Welcome home!
|
We have found the perfect spot for us with a landlord who not only loves artists, but isn’t frightened off by tenants who work over open flames daily, run kilns regularly beyond 2000 degrees, and hammer noisily day and night! In fact, Mr. Harkinson, our landlord, is partnering with us in the cost of building out our new space.
We’re excited about our new home!
We are in the Midcourt Commons on Midway, just north of Beltline Road. That’s less than 2 miles from both of our former Village on the Parkway and Proton locations.
Our new space is in a beautiful red brick building in an attractive, well-kept office park with great security. It is one of four buildings situated in a large rectangular formation that gives the complex a campus feel. We have an abundance of parking and our space is easily accessible from major highways.
Thank you
I want to thank you for your patience and continued support during our short tenure at Valley View. While we are glad that we were able to stay open for you in temporary quarters, we simply can’t wait to get back to offering all of the classes you know and love, plus a few surprises. All of the departments will be offering the full range of classes and techniques that were offered at our previous location. One thing that we are very excited about is getting our kiln yard back so we can try out our brand new gas kiln and a new salt kiln we will be building. We know how much you clay peeps love your cone 10 firings.
When we’ll move
The Board and department heads are still working tirelessly to make sure our space is ready for us. We are completing the finish-out requirements for the new location to make it as functional and safe as possible while being mindful of budget and build out time. Given our unusual needs, we expect the build-out to be complete in early September, with the move occurring shortly thereafter.
We’ll need your help
Finally, if you’ve read this far, please allow me to take an additional moment of your time to thank the Relocation Committee and the Board for the gazillions of hours they’ve spent viewing sites, working on space planning, and ploughing through numbers for countless location possibilities. We have looked at almost every viable spot within a 15 mile radius over the last two and a half years and built space plans and financial models for about half of them. You all have my, and the entire Guild’s, appreciation for your dedication and hard work which has resulted in us finding this terrific new permanent home.
Watch for regular updates in our monthly newsletter, updates on our site, and for special email updates from me from time to time. We plan to have opportunities to tour the new location and meetings to answer questions. There are opportunities for you to be involved throughout the process.
