Bath House Petit Party: Banner Painting Sept. 29

petit party.banner painting

In collaboration with the upcoming Dias de los Muertes (Day of the Dead) gallery show (this is one of two blockbusters the Bath House has each year), we are inviting you, our friends, to join in to paint a 60 foot banner!  We will have examples of artwork and for those not wishing to freehand, there will be outline sketches to fill in directly on the banner–just like our coloring book social, but on a grand scale.

When the banner is complete, we will drape it through the ceiling during the exhibition.  Envision this: your work will be as proudly displayed as the gallery artists’ works! All supplies provided and the party is free to all.  And naturally, it wouldn’t be a Petite Party without libations and light hors d’oeuvres!

PLEASE RSVP.  communications@friendsofthebathhouse.org. Please title the subject ” Petite Party: Banner.”

The Petite Parties were invented to offer fun, artistic, and stress-free socials for the local community in keeping with the Friends of the Bath House Cultural Center’s mission of enriching the visitor experience.

With the Bath House Cultural Center’s tightly booked schedule, the Friends and the Bath House and staff of the Bath House slip these events into rare, open evenings.  Originally conceived as pop-up events, the parties have evolved into quarterly must-do’s that enjoy a loyal following.  Each evening opens with an unique concept.  The organization has sponsored coloring pages, holiday ornament making and painting banners to complement gallery shows and have library index card designs and artsy trivial pursuit on its line-up.

Silent Witness: Photographs by Kathleen Wilke

Kathleen Wilke

Through April 30, 2016

Meet the Artist:
Saturday, March 12, 2016
(7-9 PM)

Silent Witness is a recent exhibition of art by Dallas photographer, Kathleen Wilke. The series, presented at the White Rock Lake Museum, features a collection of photographs that highlight the beauty, mystery, and allure of the lake.

Kathleen, an award-winning artist, has been celebrated for her underwater portraits, which have received enthusiastic praise for their ability to conjure up a graceful and spellbinding surrealistic world that the artist manages to create every time she sets out to capture the beauty and personality of her subjects. Despite the popularity of her portraits, Kathleen decided to put her underwater photography gear aside momentarily in order to focus her attention completely on producing this museum series, which was designed to document various aspects of life at or near White Rock Lake.
