JM Gallery: Reception Nov. 5 – Jay Bailey, Doug Gray, and Susan Perkins

baileygrayperkins

Join JM Gallery Saturday, November 5th from 5 until 8 for an opening reception featuring work from Jay Bailey, Doug Gray, and Susan Perkins.

Jay Bailey, Doug Gray, and Susan Perkins work in different mediums, but they share a powerful aesthetic and vision. Each expresses volumes with just a few simple gestures. The vision they express with those gestures is one of hope in a world where people too often feel threatened and alone.

In Jay’s paintings and drawings, line and color coalesce into uneasy, conflicted figures that we see as embodiments of the “other” but also as reflections of ourselves—despite perceived differences, the human condition is shared.

Doug creates dramatic narratives in ceramics, using abstract avian forms to express the power of human connection in the face of anxiety and the unknown.

And Susan weaves fiber and paper into clean, calligraphic forms that both represent and embody the interconnected nature of our community; a community that is at once beautiful and damaged, yet inextricably bound together. We invite you to come enjoy the works of Jay, Doug, and Susan and to share with us in their vision.

Interweaving continues at Haley-Henman

Week-end lineup for Interweaving

Saturday, August 13 at 7 pm    TIM COUCH  CANCELLED

An evening of favorite stories:  One of Tim’s greatest triumphs occurred while telling ghost stories to students around a campfire. One of the boys jumped up at the climatic point in the story and said:  “That’s it, I’m out of here.”  He suddenly looked startled and asked, “Did I say that out loud?” And he sat down to hear the ending.  A perfect unintentional compliment!

Sunday, August 14 from 3-4 pm  BETH AYRES and Friends

Georgia born poet, Beth Ayres brings southern flavor to poetry performance with unmatched eloquent perfection.  Deeply narrative in style, and oh my, so wise.

INTERWEAVING  is Ann Marie Newman’s conceptual, interactive, process driven “webbed” installation featuring spoken word artists and community participation to promote unity.  She is the Artist-in Residence at Haley-Henman Gallery, and the second artist to be selected for this residency program.  It is a three month program and will end onAugust 27 at 7pm with a closing celebration.
