Each day you will engage in exercises that will solidify the content that you are working on and spend time viewing other artists work. We will discuss the methods and the impact that these artists achieve using their techniques.

As an artist I have used her techniques and incorporated them into mine and loved the results. Judi is a great teacher and willing to work one on one!
While taking this amazing course the accommodations are amazing as well !!! I’ve seen the new studio. It is a large, air conditioned well-lit room and makes painting perfect! Judi’s quips and stories makes learning conditions perfect.
Three delicious meals are enjoyed daily and end of the day sunsets are superb. I have taken twice and I can say each time I learned and enjoyed the ranch experience. Don’t miss it….I’m not!!! ”

Spots Still Open for Ken Hosmer Watercolor Workshop in Ingram

The Hill Country Arts Foundation is proud to once again offer a summer watercolor workshop with renowned artist, Ken Hosmer. The workshop will take place Monday through Thursday, June 19 – 22.
Ken Hosmer is known for his unique use of color, and as a skilled teacher, highly respected for a calm, supportive demeanor. He has taught art workshops for over 30 years, and has been a guest workshop instructor for more than 100 art organizations across the United States and in exotic locations such as Italy, Greece and Mexico.
In this watercolor workshop, students will watch as Ken reveals ‘color secrets’ and design ideas each day. He offers guidelines which encourage you to creatively interpret painting subjects in your own style. Painting demonstrations emphasize free, spontaneous painting and cover a variety of subjects, including landscape, flowers, human figures, or animals.
Ken clearly explains his artistic method as he paints, organizes ideas into simple terms, and in a positive and gentle manner, skillfully pinpoints and verbalizes exactly what your painting needs for improvement. This makes the class ideal for beginning and advanced students. A typical day might include demonstration and lecture in the morning with class work time and individual help in the afternoon. The workshop ends with an uplifting and informative critique session.

Please call the HCAF Visual Arts Center for details or to register for this workshop at (830) 367-5120.

December Workshops at Oil & Cotton

with James Thurman
Saturday, Dec 3, 3-6pm
Basic metalworking is easier than you think (and possibly a lot more fun!).  In this workshop, students will create a unique metal ornament embellished with their own textures.  Hammering, stamping, pressing, and punching, oh my.  Just a few of the techniques introduced that students can use to customize their own individual design.  By the end of the workshop, students will have at least one finished metal ornament to decorate with and the knowledge (and hopefully enthusiasm) to make more.

w/ Analise Minjarez
Sunday, December 4, 3-6pm
Students will learn beginning knot techniques to create a sturdy and stellar tapestry plant hanger. Taught by fiber artist Analise Minjarez, these beginning knots are the first steps to a continued practice is textile crafts. Using cord, you will create a unique plant hanger that includes a succulent, painted sticks, planter, cord, and brass ring.

w/ JuneCovington
Friday/Sunday, December 11, 3-6pm
Learn to make Linoleum and Collagraph prints! Explore the graphic possibilities of simple printmaking techniques. You can learn to make hand-pulled prints which do not require a press or complicated materials.
