Ansel Adams: Early Works at the Tyler Museum of Art


October 11Ansel Adams: Early Works opens

Ansel Adams: Early Works spotlights more than 40 small-scale prints Adams made from the 1920s into the 1950s. This exhibition features Moonrise, Hernandez, New Mexico, Adams’ most iconic image, as well as his first portfolio titled Parmelian Prints of the High Sierras.

This exhibition will be on view through Sunday, January 3, 2016. Admission is free for TMA Members, children (12 & under) and students. Adults are $5 and seniors (65 & older) are $3.

As a continuation of the 2015 Fall Lecture Series, Dr. David Coleman will present Ansel Adams: An Introduction to Advocacy at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 25 in the TMA Classroom.

His lecture will provide an introduction to Adams’ work and career. This lecture is free but seats are limited. Please RSVP at (903) 595-1001.

Art of Peace Tyler: call for artists


Submit your visual art to the 2015 Art of PeaceTyler Museum of Art juried peace art exhibit! You can contact Kerian Massey at artofpeace@gmail.com for a copy of the prospectus. or click here to download. The Submissions are due at the END OF THIS MONTH. July 31st!

Art of Peace – Tyler is a month-long celebration of the United Nations International Day of Peace, which is designated as September 21, each year. Events include live music, independent film, poetry, art, speakers, children’s activities, worship services and an open-table peace meal.The kickoff for the event will be a juried visual art exhibit at the Tyler Museum of Art.

Our Art of Peace – Tyler art show theme this year is Intertwined – Shared Endeavor. Artists are encouraged to creatively respond to concepts such as cooperation, collaboration, partnership, interaction, entanglement, sharing, and, of course, peace.

The exhibit will be open to the public at the Tyler Museum of Art from September 8-13, with an artists’ reception on the afternoon of Sunday, September 13. Submissions, by digital image, are due July 31, with announcement of accepted works by mid-August and delivery September 1-2.
