Hometown Texas: Photographs by Peter Brown, Stories by Joe Holley

Texas is perfect subject matter for both photographer, Peter Brown, and journalist, Joe Holley. Their recent book, Hometown Texas, explores the land and people of this vast state of Texas: East, West, North, South and Central. They illustrate through stories and pictures, the place that shapes a person that defines them as Texans.

PDNB Gallery will be exhibiting, Hometown Texas: Photographs by Peter Brown and Stories by Joe Holley, February 17 through May 5, 2018. Peter Brown and Joe Holley, will be signing copies of their book at the opening reception, Saturday, February 17, 2018, from 5-8 PM.

Photographs Do Not Bend Gallery is a fine art gallery dedicated to photo-based art. We are now located at 154 Glass Street, Ste. 104, across the Dallas Contemporary. The gallery opened its original Uptown location in 1995. Gallery Hours: Tuesday – Saturday 11 AM – 5 PM

It was said that Bonnie & Clyde died as they lived, by the gun. On September 9, 2017, PDNBGallery will be exhibiting for the first time, photographs of the infamous Texas criminals, Bonnie & Clyde. These historical photographs are from the personal collection of PDNBGallery Director, Burt Finger. This exhibition highlights the deadly aftermath of a two-year manhunt for America’s most romanticized criminal couple. Warning: Parental Discretion advised due to vivid imagery of the crime scene.

The rugged cowboy life of riding the open range, cattle driving, breaking wild horses, working in severe cold or heat, gun slinging, drinking in Saloons, is the stuff of great fiction.

A small exhibition of still lives by Houston artist, John Herrin, will be simultaneously on view along with two other exhibitions.

After Hurricane Ike hit Houston, Herrin’s flower arrangements within his home took on a different character in darkness, resulting in the days long power outage.

COWBOYS, COWGIRLS AND SOME INDIANS [sic]

September 9 – November 11, 2017

Opening reception Saturday, September 9, 2017 from 5 – 8 pm

This great state of Texas is well known for its legendary history of oil discovery, but more importantly, Texas is known for expanding the myth and of the Cowboy. The cowboy culture will be the theme of PDNB’s upcoming group exhibition, with photographs by Bank Langmore, John Langmore, Chris Regas, Jeremy Enlow, John Stryker and Edward S. Curtis. The exhibition will be on view from September 9 – November 11, 2017 with an opening reception , Saturday, September 9, 2017 from 5 – 8 pm. Exhibition is free and open to the public.

A Plain View by Jason Lee opens June 2nd at Artspace111

Artspace111 is proud to present a special print preview of photographs from Jason Lee’s A PLAIN VIEW, the forthcoming book from RF Books and Film Photographic. The collection explores Texas through large format color film photographs, and will be on display June 2-18. Opening Reception on June 2nd from 5:00pm – 8:30pm.

Artspace111 is dedicated to its vital role in the city of Fort Worth, and to making contemporary art approachable to individuals of all ages. With its sculpture and distinctive architectural character, the gallery offers a striking setting to host corporate and private events, and is also available for tours and other social gatherings.
