George H. Jones “journey from Dallas to Santa Fe” – reception Feb. 12

George Jones - Horses
Artists’ Showplace Presents Texas Artist George H. Jones in an Extraordinary Exhibition “Journey from Dallas to Santa Fe”
Vivid and captivating, George H. Jones’ large-scale paintings are matched only by his Texas-sized personality. He has been painting for 40 years and was recently featured on Good Morning Texas, where he painted live in the studio. His paintings represent his Texas heritage and his love of animals. Painting primarily in oils, Jones often uses a palette knife to create a “chunky”, 3-D texture that reaches out from the canvas.
Jones’ works proudly hang in the private collections of former Vice President Dan Quayle (as well several of his advisors), professional athletes, and in over 20 galleries across North America, including ART on 5th in Austin, Grand Teton Gallery in Jackson Hole, and Masters Gallery in Vail.
The exhibit runs from February 5 through February 27 and will also feature stunning jewelry by Santa Fe jewelry artist Mitzi. An opening reception will be held on Friday, February 12, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

ARTISTS’ SHOWPLACE GALLERY Presents “FRAMING THE FRONTIER”

Cattle Drive

ARTISTS’ SHOWPLACE GALLERY

Presents

“FRAMING THE FRONTIER”

April 1 – 30, 2015

“Framing the Frontier” an exhibition of works with western themes by Linda Wacaster, Mickey Archer, Judy Campbell, Lucille Carter, Patsy Lindamood and Pete Quaid will be featured at the Artists’ Showplace Gallery, 15615 Coit Road #230, Dallas, 75248 from April 1 – 30, 2015.

Please join us for a reception on April 10th from 6:00 – 9:00 pm.

Meet the artists and enjoy magnificent art, live music, wine and hors d’oeuvres.

Award winning artist Linda Wacaster, born and raised in Dallas, studied with the greats of wildlife art including Carl Brenders, Terry Isaac, Nancy Glazier and others.  She loves wildlife and the outdoors and has travelled the world to gather subject matter.  She feels that the sounds, smells and energy surrounding her is almost as important to the creative process as the visual subject.  Linda’s attention to detail and her unique qualities of color, light and form are of the utmost importance to her, but of most importance to her is feeling that the viewer can experience what she was feeling on that day and in that place.  Her subjects include wildlife to western and each subject has a story to tell.  She is published in “The International Artists Book “100 Artists Tell How to Paint the Portrait”, as well as Gango Editions. Buffalo

Water color artist, Mickey Archer is a retired architect and past president of the Southwestern Watercolor Society.  He is also a member of the Richardson Civic Art Society.  His degree in architecture from Texas Tech had a strong art emphasis including several watercolor classes.  After retiring from a large architectural firm in 2008, he picked up his brushes and began painting again.

Mickey enjoys painting western subjects as well as street scenes. What really fascinates him are works with lots of detail, people and architecture.

Judy Campbell, a founding co-owner of the Artists’ Showplace Gallery, shows her love of music, rhythm and movement in her art.  The expression of beauty is of the utmost importance to her, inspiring feelings of joy.  Judy studied painting at St. Johns College in Annapolis, MD.  She has lived and worked in many cities throughout the U.S. Her work is included in private and corporate collections as well as the Art Encounter Gallery in Las Vegas and the H & S Gallery in New York City.

New Yorker, Lucille Carter, one of the partners of the Artists’ Showplace Gallery, worked initially in fashion and furniture illustration before dedicating herself to fine art.  Today, she is recognized regionally and nationally for her oils, pastels and acrylic paintings.  She is an associate member of Oil Painters of America and the Portrait Society of America.  Her work is included in collections throughout the U.S., Canada and Mexico.  She us represented by Carson Art, Dallas and Art Encounters, Las Vegas.

An established wildlife artist, Patsy Lindamood’s art derives from research and observation of creatures in their own environments – the wild. Her move to Texas in 2012 has provided her with many opportunities to experience a new kind of “wild” life – the rodeo. Using bold colors, strong texture, she finds inspiration in the animal kingdom, from western wildlife to the bulls of the rodeo. Each of her pieces celebrate a communion with wild things and a desire to contribute to the preservation of buffalo, antelope, etc. Her unique representational style is powerful, colorful and infinitely detailed.  In the last three years, Patsy has received more than three dozen awards for her art.

Pete Quaid has been painting for thirty years.  As a young man, he painted billboards and eventually graduated to painting murals for  Pepsi Co., General Electric and Southwest Airlines, among others.

This self taught artist is inspired by beauty and light.  He feels that beauty is everywhere, from the shape of an oak leaf to the grandeur of a mountain.  Accurately portraying light with paint on the surface of an object both challenges and satisfies him.

Tucked away in the corner of a strip center at Arapaho and Coit Roads in Dallas, the Artists’ Showplace Gallery is a unique 12,000 ft. space that sponsors internationally renowned artist/instructors in monthly workshops throughout the year.  For information about upcoming workshops, please visit www.theartistsshowplace.com.  For more information call 972-233-1223 or send an email to theartistsshowplace@gmail.com
