Peter Burega

burega

Anse de Grand Saline No. 3, oil on panel, 60″ x 50″
Peter Burega’s work is a tempest. He delivers large-scale, beautiful oil abstractions in a style that echoes harsh weather over an upset sea. These are not, however, mere renderings of a weather patterns. Burega focuses on building a complex, harmonic palette riddled with spits of contrasts and soft gradations. The end product may resemble a lightning storm but it is at variance with his final marks: a series of scored lines and a monochrome stripe. With all the wildness, there must be a way to rationalize; to step away and consider.
____________________________________________________________________

Soundtrack, vintage ephemera, oil and graphite on canvas, 39″ x 59″
Kelsey Irvin builds her mixed media collages from the bottom of a long forgotten drawer in your grandmother’s dresser. Maybe there’s a cracked vinyl, an elementary school primer, a yellowed magazine page. These items are cut and organized into scenes from yesteryear. A past that seems as warm as it is unattainable. An exercise in nostalgia through material and content.
