Winners of the Spirit is Ageless Art & Writing Contest will be announced Saturday, May 6, 2017, at the Spirit is Ageless Awards & Celebration held at The Point & Pavilion at C. C. Young.

The annual contest and gallery show features entries from
13 categories in an effort to celebrate each person’s ageless creativity, ability to
grow and eagerness to share his or her special talents no matter a person’s
limitations or status. All participants are age 55 and better, including three
talented artists who are 100 years old. The 2017 contest saw 190 submissions
with entries coming from C. C. Young residents and the general public. First,
second and third place winners were chosen from each category, as well as top
winners in four special categories. The Awards & Celebration event will honor the
winning participants, and C. C. Young will continue to display all artists’ work in
The Point & Pavilion from Saturday, April 29, 2017, through Monday, May 29,
2017.

Featured speaker, Lily Cabatu Weiss, Executive Director of the Dallas Arts
District, will join in the Spirit is Ageless Awards & Celebration and speak on
Changing Perspectives: Planning the Dallas Arts District for Future Generations.

2017 Spirit is Ageless Art and Writing Contest call for entries

DALLAS – January 10, 2017 – C. C. Young, a premier, non-profit senior living community, is excited to announce a call for art and writing for the 2017 Spirit is Ageless Art and Writing Contest. Residents of          C. C. Young and the general public, age 55 and better, are encouraged to enter. Entries will be accepted on March 22 and 23, 2017. 

Started in 1999, The Spirit is Ageless Art & Writing Contest continues to be a very special event at                C. C. Young. The contest, art gallery show and celebration of artists and writers is designed for the entire Dallas-Fort Worth community to enjoy. The annual show features entries from 16 categories in an effort to celebrate each person’s ageless creativity, ability to grow and eagerness to share his or her special talents,      no matter a person’s limitations or status. All ability levels are welcome to participate in the contest.

Residents ofC. C. Young.are limited to entering two (2) pieces and there is NO cost. All others are limited to entering one (1) complimentary piece and may enter one (1) additional piece of art for a $10.00 entrance fee, which must be paid at the time of art delivery/drop off. Categories:

Richardson Civic Art Society 50+ Show Competition and Sale

“Ageless Creativity” Show Reception Aug. 15

Creative Arts Center Hosts C.C. Young’s “Ageless Creativity” Show

Exhibition Showcases Senior Art from C.C. Young

DALLAS – August 2, 2013 -The Creative Arts Center of Dallas (CAC) will host “Ageless Creativity,”, an exhibition of works from thirteen residents at C.C. Young, a senior living and care facility located near White Rock Lake from August 15 to October 31, 2013. The artist reception is Thursday, August 15 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm, and is open to the public.

Participating artists are: Fred Christen, Nida Clyde, Howard Cox, Ernest “Bud” Duvall, Virginia Ellis, Paul Harris, Anita Hullum, Barbara Mott, Emeline Simpson Thaxton, Patsy Stanford, Wilburn “Wib” Sutherland, Rozina Vlasimsky and Dot Winchester. Work includes ceramics, fiber arts, photography, oil painting and watercolor. Ages of the artists when the works were completed vary from 57 to 91.

According to Denise Aver-Phillips, C.C. Young’s Director of The Point, Center for Arts and Education, the 91-year-old nonprofit organization programs and services focus on integrated whole-person health and wellness. “We have learned that the desire to create and contribute does not diminish with age,” she said. “This collaboration with the Creative Arts Center allows our resident artists a way to celebrate their achievements with their family, friends and the community.”

The exhibition will be on view Mondays through Saturdays from 10am to 4pm at CAC’s two-acre campus located four miles east of downtown Dallas at 2360 Laughlin Drive.

CAC is a nonprofit community arts organization and school of visual arts geared to working artists and adult students of all skill levels, CAC is an incubator for emerging artists. More than 500 classes and workshops are offered year, and last year more than 1,500 students were enrolled. Offerings include ceramics, clay sculpture, drawing, glass, fiber arts, jewelry, mosaic, painting, photography, printmaking, stone carving and welding. Instructors include well-known artists and art educators whose work is in public and private collections, including Sonia King, Rebecca Swann, Dan Sellers and Tomas Bustos.
