Call for Artists – Peavy Landmark Tree Rebirth Competition – Friends of the Bath House Cultural Center

The Friends of the Bath House Cultural Center are sponsoring the Peavy Landmark Tree Rebirth Competition, an art exhibition and live auction that will take place during the annual Bath House Cultural Center Art MartNovember 17-19, 2017.

This project is in response to a recent incident where a landmark Dallas Park and Recreation pecan tree was vandalized. Twelve sections of the tree limbs (about 12” by 18” in size) were rescued. To celebrate the rebirth of the tree, the Friends of the Bath House would like to do a request for qualifications to select artists to reanimate each log into works of art.

The artwork will be on display during the Art Mart. The auction will take place on Sunday, November 19, 2017. Proceeds from the auction benefit the Friends of the Bath House Cultural Center, a not for profit organization that supports the center’s visual and performing art programs throughout the year.

Applications are due on Monday, September 18, 2017, by midnight.

To download an application and to get more details about this project, including information regarding prizes, deadlines, photographs of the landmark tree, and submission requirements, visit the website of the Friends of the Bath House Cultural Center at https://www.friendsofthebathhouse.org/competitions/
