EXPRESSIONS – New photography book by Randy Ziegler

DFW ©Randy Ziegler

My recently published photography book EXPRESSIONS is now available!

Excerpt from the book –  “The photographic images for this book are some personal favorites from my archives. Early in my photography career, I opened my eyes and ears to be a witness to humanity. A purveyor of life, always open to its influences and impressions. It was only natural that I would create images to preserve the unforgettable expressions of life, and share them with the world.”

Street Photography: Capturing The Rhythm Of Life

This workshop is for photographers who want to improve their skills photographing people in public and urban settings using only available light. It is about going on an unknown voyage with your camera and capturing moments of life that unfold around you.

Street life runs at its own pace and as a photographer, you must learn to fine tune your technique and style until it becomes second nature. Thus, the camera becomes an extension of yourself. It is all about photographic spontaneity combined with a keen visual awareness of your surroundings. During the Friday evening lecture, Randy will cover street photography tips from basic camera techniques and lens selection to photographing strangers at a close distance with confidence. We will discuss the importance of subject-background relationship and how to use gesture to create those defining documentary shots that take your photography to the next level.

On Saturday morning you will apply what you have learned during a street photography assignment at Sundance Square in Fort Worth. After lunch on the Square, we will head back to Granbury for a critique by Randy of some of your best images of the day.

You will leave the workshop with a greater confidence in photographing people in a variety of situations and how to quickly recognize the potential scene with the fortitude to record the ‘decisive moment’ with your camera.

Time and place: February 21-22, 2014 Granbury, Texas. For more information and to register for this exciting photography workshop visit: www.randyziegler.com

The Art of Photographing People Aug. 9-10

This workshop is for photographers who want to improve their skills photographing people in a natural environment. We will cover two different approaches to photographing people – the illuminating, environmental portrait and the spontaneous, candid photograph.
Randy will reveal the techniques he uses to engage and relaxed his subject (s) while evoking human emotion during the portrait session. You will learn through class discussions, critiques, shooting assignment (s), and seeing Randy’s work how light, color, gesture, and the proper background combine to create an environmental portrait with impact.
In the classic photojournalistic style, you will learn how to capture people as an observer of life waiting for the decisive moment when the subject reveals its essence. This style of photography is all about speed and precision. We will discuss how to hone your techniques in the field so you can concentrate on seeing and recording those moments that will never happen again.
You will leave the workshop with new skills and a greater confidence in photographing people which will serve as a springboard for further photographic discoveries.
