The Oil Paintings of Patricia Rodriquez and Dr. Regina Ruiz
August 3-27, 2015 • 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Artists Reception • 7-9 p.m. August 13, 2015
“Natura” is the exploration of nature as envisioned by artists Patricia Rodriquez and Dr. Regina Ruiz through oil paint and brush on canvas. Each artist depicts the natural beauty around them as individual as they are themselves.
Ms. Rodriquez, an Oak Cliff native is a freelance painter and muralist who draws her inspiration from nature with an approach both subconscious and organic. She states that “this body of work is an exploration of Nature as a form of energy. Chaos and elegance coexist as these surreal plant forms take on different arrangements to express the pure energy of life. The work is driven by color and movement. Inspired by Nature and spontaneity and never sketched before hand to embed each piece with fresh energy. www.tigerbeearts.com
Always interested in flowers and fruits, Dr. Ruiz uses them to explore shape and texture, sometimes using the “smallest section of something, anything, a flower, a vegetable, a fruit and then I make it bigger to the point of abstraction not attempting to paint in a realistic style….If I have made a picture and I am happy with it, hopefully it can speak for itself. Each person takes something a little different from the same picture.”
An Evening with the Artists, a reception showcasing Dr. Ruiz and Ms. Rodriguez will be from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, August 13 at Keller Town Hall, 1100 Bear Creek Parkway, Keller TX 76248. The event is free and suitable for all ages. Enjoy refreshments while conversing with the artists and other art enthusiasts.

DEMO @ TVAA Downtown Gallery – What secrets of the Old Masters can we re-discover and use in our contemporary works of art? Master Artist, D.K. Richardson, demonstrates the Verdaccio Underpainting and Glazing Techniques used by Masters such as Da Vinci in the ‘Mona Lisa’, and Michelangelo in the Sistine Chapel. ‘Verdaccio’ is an Italian term for a color mixture that creates an olive green used for tonal underpaintings. June 21st and 22nd
The Dutch Gallery – Dallas
All Levels Welcome
George De Chiara
Come and explore the art of still life painting! In this two day workshop, we will discuss composition, drawing, edges, colors, and lighting in order to design and paint an effective still life painting in the alla prima method. Bring your favorite knick knacks to paint or choose from a selection of items available for the class. Better yet, bring something that you don’t normally associate with still life painting and turn it into art.
Each day George will demonstrate his techniques for painting and discuss his thought process while working. We will talk about mixing colors, drawing with a paint brush and adjusting edges. Along the way there will be plenty of tips and suggestions for making the best painting possible. Each day will have plenty of opportunities for one on one time while you work on your own painting.
