Park Place Village’s Gallery at Goggle features fine art and gallery-quality artists inside each of the participating businesses in Park Place Village.  Participating businesses range from a windows and doors retailer to restaurants, a co-working space to a music school.  In support of the Fort Worth arts community, these businesses clear their walls, rearrange furniture, and transform their traditional work environments into a gallery space dedicated to displaying the work of ArtsGoggle artists.  Venues receive no compensation for hosting artists; in fact, the Park Place Village businesses go to great expense to become a venue, with many opening during off-hours and making adjustments to their spaces to accommodate artists.  This unique partnership between business and artist is a distinctive feature of ArtsGoggle, and furthers the conversation about the importance of art in our everyday environments.  GALLERY at GOGGLE will also include an outdoor street festival for artists and stage with live music and performance art throughout the festival.

Magnolia Village Takes it to the Street In addition to Gallery at Goggle, ArtsGoggle hosts an outdoor street party spreading more than 14 blocks across the Magnolia Village. The street festival closes Magnolia Avenue to car traffic from 8th Avenue to Hemphill Street and fills the street with more than 500 visual artists showcasing their works and 4 stages with music and performance art of all varieties.

Music on Magnolia will be cranking out tunes from local favorites

  • The Rahr & Son’s Brewing Company Stage at 8th Avenue will feature cow punk rockersHoly Moly, pop masters The Hendersons, Fort Worth Weekly’s 2016 Best Live Band Animal Spirit, the genuinely addictive sounds of  VVOES, and Dallas indie legends The Deathray Davies.
  • Tarrant County College stage at Avoca Coffee will feature musicians from of the Fort Worth Symphony and the best of Fort Worth’s singer songwriters including Kevin Aldridge,Jacob Furr, Christa Russell, Luke McGlathery, Darrin Kobetich,Alex Rhea, and Wayne Floyd. An acoustic performance from headliner Joe Gorgeous at 9:00pm closes the show.
  • The FWADA & Chimera Brewing Stage at SiNaCa Studios will offer an eclectic mix of world music and funky favorites including pop violinist Zuriek Merek, the billowing sounds of bagpipes from Scottish Pipe and Drums, Americana band The Phantom Sensation, rhythm rockers Trái Bơ, and an epic ending with an alt-country throw down from Vandoliers.
  • The Chat Room stage brings the rock with an all-star line up to include folk favorites Telegraph CanyonWar PartyGollay, Un Chien, Mills & Co. and The Unlikely Candidates.

Performances on Park Place

Music Junkie Studios Stage is throwing down the gauntlet with a stellar line up of reggae, blues, jazz and funk-rock performances.  Not to miss moments include silt walkers from Amphibian Stage productions throughout the day, the UNT Jazz Trio at 4:00pm, and Bandaoke, karaoke with a live full band to back you, from 8:00pm to 10:00pm.

Art Tooth: Public Printing Project Art Tooth is a newly established hybrid art gallery representing emerging and mid-career contemporary regional artists.  Staying true to their “pop up gallery” concept, Art Tooth will offer ArtsGoggle patrons an opportunity to “cut their teeth” on building an art collection in a one-day ArtsGoggle installation called Public Printing Project.  An outdoor gallery will host 10 large-scale works by celebrated local artists.  The pieces are each valued at $1,000-$5,000 dollars.  Each artwork will have 100 limited edition signed prints available for purchase, prices ranging $10-$50, during ArtsGoggle.  After all prints are sold, one lucky print-purchaser will be randomly selected for each piece as the winner of the original artwork.

EVENT PRODUCER
ArtsGoggle is presented by Near Southside, Inc., the non-profit redevelopment organization working to revitalize this important urban neighborhood, in partnership with our sister organization Historic Southside, Inc.  The event has regularly drawn crowds of 7,000-10,000 and in 2015 experienced incredible growth with a crowd estimated at 30,000 attendees filling the streets with visitors of all ages.  The scene is a wonderfully pleasant testament to the community spirit that fills the Near Southside.
ArtsGoggle is an expansion of Near Southside Inc.’s efforts to promote the Near Southside and build the community fabric essential to our continued development.  Since our founding in 1995, NSI has led development and promotional initiatives that have successfully transformed the Near Southside into one of the region’s most distinctive and vibrant urban districts.  Signs of NSI’s 20-year revitalization effort are evident throughout the district, perhaps most apparent along Magnolia Avenue, S. Main Street and Park Place Avenue, home to the city’s most eclectic selection of locally-owned restaurants and pubs.

ArtSouth Exhibition No. 2 postponed

ArtSouthlogo

THE BAD NEWS
After more than two weeks of battling the heat, both outdoors and inside the ArtSouth Exhibition Space, we believe it is critical to delay the ArtSouth No. 2 exhibition by James Talambas originally scheduled to open this Thursday, August 11. The inside temperate of the ArtSouth space has been registering somewhere between 142-154 degrees, melting pieces of the art installation and providing a less than hospitable work environment for James. Once again Texas, you win.

THE PLAN
James has created an incredible installation and we cannot wait to share it with you. ArtSouth is rescheduling the Talambas Residency to November-December 2016 when the weather will provide a safer environment for the artist, artwork and patrons of this interactive installation.  Please stay tuned for more details to come.

ENJOY AN ARTSGOGGLE PREVIEW
Over the next seven weeks, prior to Tatara Siegel’s ArtSouth Exhibition opening scheduled for ArtsGoggle day, the ArtSouth Exhibition Space will showcase a weekly ArtsGoggle artist preview. Each week the space will feature the artwork of an artist, or an artist collective, that is participating in ArtsGoggle on Saturday, October 8, 2016.

Join us this Friday, August 12 at the Magnolia-Micro Park to for glass art from SiNaCa Studios on display August 12-18.  Glass has a melting temp of 2100 degrees, just slightly above the temperature inside the ArtSouth space.

ArtsGoggle Registration Deadline Sept. 1

artsgogglefall2014

Saturday, October 8, 2016 | Noon to 10pm
Join us as we celebrate the 14th anniversary of ArtsGoggle,
the Near Southside’s most beloved community arts event.
What is ArtsGoggle?

Since its inception in 2003, ArtsGoggle has evolved into a popular festival of the arts in this eclectic neighborhood of historic elegance and urbanism. This free to the public, family-friendly event attracts a crowd as diverse as the neighborhood itself with live music, artistic displays of every kind, food, drink, and fun for everyone.

ArtsGoggle is unlike any event in Fort Worth, as residents from the nearby Fairmount, Mistletoe Heights, Berkeley Place, and Ryan Place neighborhoods are joined by medical district workers and visitors from throughout the region for a community arts festival focused in the Near Southside’s Park Place and Magnolia Villages. One of the event’s goals – along with celebrating art of all kinds – is to showcase the unique and memorable character of the Near Southside. Visitors are invited to park their cars and rediscover this revitalized urban neighborhood by foot or by bicycle, including Fort Worth Bike Sharing bikes.

ArtsGoggle prides itself in hosting a casual, approachable and vibrant environment to appreciate art and learn about the talents within our own community. For more than a decade, ArtsGoggle has been the launch pad for many artists showing their work for the first time. ArtsGoggle provides a supportive setting for both aspiring and professional visual artists, to display, sell and seek comment on their artwork.
Embracing all arts, the event also boasts an impressive program of performance art and music. The 2015 ArtsGoggle featured more than 100 bands, many of which have members who live or work in the Near Southside. The entertainment at ArtsGoggle is diverse and showcases music from a variety of cultures and styles. The event partners with arts organizations across Fort Worth to draw attention to their programs. In years past ArtsGoggle has hosted the Fort Worth Opera for pop-up concerts; showcased Ballet Folklorico de Azteca for a colorful dance performance; and hosted The Bucket List Jazz Band, a band dedicated to the lifelong dream of 90-year-old Jim Milam to resurrect Dixieland Jazz.

HOURS
Event hours are Noon to 10pm, a full day to offer patrons time to experience all that ArtsGoggle has to offer and will allow greater sales opportunities for our artists.

FOCUSED EVENT MAP
ArtsGoggle will focus on venues within the 2 mixed-use urban villages: Magnolia Village and Park Place Village. This condensed site map will provide a more manageable and enjoyable experience for our artists and patrons.
