ONE RIVER SCHOOL OF ART + DESIGN to open in 2017 in Frisco

oneriverlogo

FIRST FRANCHISE LOCATION OF INNOVATIVE

ONE RIVER SCHOOL OF ART + DESIGN

SCHEDULED TO OPEN IN FRISCO, TEXAS IN EARLY 2017

The nation’s first network of contemporary art schools  offers a transformative new direction in art education.

ENGLEWOOD, NJ: With a mission to develop what the New York Times called “the next generation of Basquiats and Warhols,” the very first franchise location of the innovative One River School of Art + Design is scheduled to open in early 2017 in Frisco, Texas. The school will be located in the new Teel Crossing, at 3288 Main Street (Suite 102).

Established in 2012, One River School of Art + Design provides suburban kids and adults with the kind of exceptional, creative learning experiences that are typically only available in major cities. Using proprietary teaching methods, world-class instructors and interactive processes, the school delivers an experience that “changes people’s lives,” according to founder and CEO Matt Ross. One River School also presents exhibitions from emerging artists as part of its commitment to be the voice of contemporary art in its communities.

“We are proud and excited to open the first One River School franchise location in Frisco,” said Dean Tarpley, Managing Partner of Tarpley Capital, the Dallas area franchisee. “We are also confident that the school will quickly become a vibrant contributor to the Frisco community, and will be extraordinarily well-received by its residents.” Tarpley cited Teel Crossing’s other tenants and its proximity to the Frisco Family YMCA, Kroger and Robert Cobb Middle School as other favorable indicators of the success of One River School.

“I love the challenge of inspiring people through compelling art education while making it fun at the same time,” said Matt Ross. “This is my calling, my mission and the purpose of One River.”

Currently, there are two company-owned One River Schools in New Jersey: the flagship school in Englewood, and another under construction in Allendale. Matt Ross brings a deep background in creative education and the franchise business model to One River School.  “We are excited to expand coast to coast,” said Ross. “People need to tap into their creative ability, and we are so excited to make the Frisco location number one in our franchise growth plan.”

The early 2017 grand opening of One River School of Art + Design in Frisco will feature a weekend full of special events and guests, with more details to follow. The school will also soon be recruiting local residents for its staff positions.

A Year In Review

It’s been an extremely eventful year at SPARK! After our ribbon cutting ceremony in July, things quickly picked up steam. Major strides in programming and fundraising efforts were made possible thanks to our team of dedicated staff, volunteers, instructors and friends. Take a look at our biggest accomplishments this year!

  • Completed the 11,000 square-foot SPARK! prototype housing a 6,000-foot Climb, Crawl, Slide Sculpture as well as visual arts, glass, silk screening, recording and ceramic studios.
  • Provided in-depth creative programming for 1,700 children; 57% of whom came from low-income households
  • Had more than 1,200 volunteers log over 3,700 hours at SPARK!
  • Attracted funding from 15 foundations and corporations
  • Had more than 110 individuals support us with their finances
  • Worked with 15 non-profit organizations and the children they serve

In addition, we hosted four corporate team building events, one wedding reception, four teacher and administrator events as well as our first birthday party.

We invite any established and emerging artists and/or groups working in any media to apply to exhibit at the Blue House Too, our new arts space. All artists wishing to exhibit must submit the Artist Exhibition Application which requires at least 8-10 quality images as examples of work to be included in an exhibition and a biographical sketch including awards and a list of past exhibits. Proposals may be submitted at any time either by mail, email or in person.

These applications are reviewed by our Exhibition Selection Committee. You will be notified as soon as a decision is made. Exhibitions are scheduled 3-6 months in advance. All Exhibition Committee selection decisions are final. Exhibitions are generally open for 2-3 weeks but that time may vary. Please note that the exhibiting artist is responsible for the delivery of artwork or must arrange for, and cover, shipping costs.

We are looking for qualified instructors to teach during summer in the field of visual art, written art, as well as art and design in technology. The Instructor Application Form can be submitted by mail, email, or in person. All instructors are subject to background checks.
