2018 Texas and Neighbors juror Lyle Novinski
will give a talk on the evening of Saturday, March 31st from 7-9 pm
at the Irving Arts Center. Lyle selected 75 works of art from 637 images entered into the regional competition. He will discuss about what qualities he looked for when jurying and will comment on those pieces he selected, along with a slide presentation of the art in the upcoming exhibit. MEET THE JUROR
Lyle Novinski is Professor Emeritus of Art and former Chair of the Art Department at the University of Dallas. He is an established painter and designer. He holds MA and MFA degrees from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, with further study in Philosophy and Theology at Marquette University. Professor Novinski’s interests as a working artist embrace a wide range of topics, including painting as a discipline, design and execution of liturgical spaces, and the history of sacred art. Consequently, he remains a sought after lecturer. His many exhibits over the years have brought note to his work with over 60 installations in churches including the windows of St. Rita’s in Dallas, furnishings for the Neuhoff Chapel at SMU, as well as a life-sized mosaic in a chapel in Rome. www.novinskistudio.com

Independent curator and arts writer Annette DiMeo Carlozzi, recently retired from the Blanton Museum of Art at UT-Austin, will give a juror’s talk on her selections for the Art in the Metroplex exhibit. Awards will be announced. FREE.

. Artworks on or of paper or paper products may be any size, but MUST fit in a 9 x 12 envelope; folded, 3D or multi-part OK. Unmatted, unframed photography, drawing, painting, printmaking, collage, mixed media, cast or folded paper or digital prints OK (other materials attached-OK). Original artworks only; no reproductions. Put artist’s name, address, title & date of work and medium on back. No entry form. Open to all artists – no age or geographical restrictions. All artwork is shown – no jury. Entry fee is $5US/piece; 6 entries max. Postmark deadline November 15, 2016

ART7 and the FWCAC announce an open call to all TAC members for a Small Works Exhibit at ART7, November 12 – January 2, 2016. LOCATION OF ART7: 820 Currie, 76107.
Works must be professionally presented (framed or finished edges and install-ready). FINISHED WORK MAY BE NO LARGER THAN 15 INCHES including framing.
2D and 3D welcome; 3D must supply pedestal if needed. $25 for up to three works. First-come, first-hung until we run out of room.

Life Drawing with Carol Ivey at the Arts Center
Saturday mornings, October 15 – November 19, 2016

$225 model fee included
This class is aimed at the beginning and intermediate level. Emphasis will be on
developing and engaging visual perception to see the human form in terms of
unique configuration. Participants learn and practice exercises in gesture,
contour, shape, proportion, value, and expression. Some structure and anatomy
will be presented. Poses vary in length from the quick study to the more finished
drawing. All work is done from the live unclothed model.
