27th Annual VAST Members Exhibition

The Visual Arts Society of Texas sponsors this annual event to offer its members an important opportunity to enter their work in a juried exhibition that showcases members only. The exhibit provides an excellent venue for the North Texas community to appreciate the high quality and diverse nature of art produced by area artists.
2016 Member Exhibition Prospectus
Artists may enter two pieces for jurying. Each entering artist will have one piece selected for inclusion in the exhibition. The entry fee is $20 for VAST members. JOIN AND ENTER Any artist, regardless of current VAST membership, may join VAST at the time entries are accepted.
- August 3 Acceptance of Entries Wednesday Patterson-Appleton Arts Center 10 am – 12 noon; 4 – 7 pm
- August 8 Pick up unaccepted work Monday 10 am – 12 noon; 4 – 7 pm
- August 12 Exhibition opens to the public Friday
- August 12 Reception 5:30-7:30pm Friday Awards Presentation 6:30pm
- September 3 Exhibition closes at 5pm Saturday
- September 6 Return of Work to Artists Tuesday 10 am – 12 noon; 4 – 7 pm
JUROR Colby Parsons, MFA, is an Associate Professor in Visual Art at Texas Woman’s University, where he teaches Ceramics and Emergent Media. Colby’s work explores the potential meanings and aesthetics within the convergence of traditional and digital media, and works in a range of media and formats including ceramics, digital fabrication, projection mapping, and interactivity. Colby’s work has been shown nationally and internationally at venues including Navy Pier in Chicago, the Taipei County Yingge Ceramics Museum; the International Ceramic Research Center in Denmark; the Orange County Center for Contemporary Art in Santa Ana, California; the University of Pennsylvania Art Museum; and in Dallas at the Craighead Green Gallery, the Pawn Gallery, and 500X. In 2015, Colby was awarded the $20,000 Zanesville Art Prize, the most valuable ceramics prize in the western hemisphere.
