Mark Chen’s Windtopia presentation June 9 at the Dallas Center for Photography

DCP Speaker Series:
Mark Chen’s Windtopia

Friday, June 9: 7-9pm

With roots as a visual art project, Windtopia has evolved into a collaboration among artists across the visual arts, sound art, graphic design, creative writing, and performance and non-artists in fields such as engineering and climate science. Mark Chen will present the project in which our complex energy future is brought to life.

Mark’s presentation will be a mix of photography and graphic design and how they can stimulate discussion about serious social, political and artistic topics. This performance will be followed by a behind-the-scenes talk, in which Mark Chen will detail the conceptual development of Windtopia – from the day it was inspired to what the future holds.

About Don Sibley:
Don Sibley has been a graphic designer for over 35 years, most of that time spent as partner in the nationally acclaimed firm of Sibley Peteet Design in Dallas. Founded in 1982, the studio was featured in CA magazine just five years later. Don’s work has been profiled in virtually every prominent design annual including Communication Arts, AIGA, New York Art Directors, Graphis, HOW, etc. He has been honored with a Clio, inducted as an AIGA Fellow, and received the DSVC “Golden Egg” for Lifetime Design Achievement. He has also enjoyed success as a writer and photographer. In 2004, Don began to split his time between managing his Dallas design firm and running a fine art gallery in San Miguel de Allende that specialized in contemporary Mexican art. For the past couple years Don has operated Sibley Design Office where he frequently indulges his passion for creating and designing books, many of which deal with his personal interests: art, design, travel, the Mexican culture, photography, cooking, and all things right brain … or left field.
