Artist Bob Cook at Last Saturday Gallery Night

Saturday, April 29, 5-8pm

Well-known National and Texas watercolor artist, Robert W. Cook, creates realistic paintings including urban landscapes, old buildings, serene get-away places and classic cars including his renowned Corvettes.

A signature member of the National Watercolor Society and the Society of Watercolor Artists, Cook’s works often depict outdoor settings, old and new architecture and weathered structures.

Educated at Kansas City Art Institute and Baker University, Cook spent many years in architectural illustration creating over 13,000 paintings. Now a full-time artist, he has received many Texas, national and international honors.

Cook’s awards include Best in Show at the 20th, Annual Rio Brazos International, 2017, First Place in Aaron Brothers, 2016 National Color Art Challenge, Best Overall Watercolor in PleinAir Magazine’s PleinAir Salon, Best Overall Watercolor in the International Watercolor Show, Fabriano, Italy.

Collected by corporations and individuals in the United States and in foreign countries, Cook’s paintings are displayed at Champlain Oil Company, Texas Instruments, The National Corvette Museum, and the Texas Baptist Convention Center.

Represented exclusively by Your Private Collection Gallery, Cook enjoys “..painting subjects that freeze frames of my life—usually scenes with massive amounts of detail that most artists wouldn’t even consider painting!”

Your Private Collection Art Gallery Presents Jack Wolfsen

1JackWolfsenad2

YOUR PRIVATE COLLECTION ART GALLERY

Presents Jack Wolfsen at Last Saturday Gallery Night

March 25, 5-8pm

Jack Wolfsen, award-winning sculptor, creates his imaginative works using wood, bronze, steel and cement.  Wall décor, single-standing sculptures and furniture are all part of this successful artist’s work. He is recognized for his work with barbed wire and has received many awards for his creations of old, barbed wire scavenged from Texas Ranches. His tree sculptures begin with barbed wire and are reborn in natural art.

How does Wolfsen feel as he creates each piece? “‘Enjoyment’ is the word that comes to mind,” he said.  “I never get tired of the look on people’s faces when they are in awe and discover that the sculpture is made of recycled barbed wire.”

finishing touches

Life scenes, like “Finishing Touches,” are created with hundreds feet of wire and welds.

One of his sculptures, which contained over 3300 welds, won an award at the Texas State Fair

Art Competition. He has competed in many art shows, including the Rio Brazos Art Exhibition and the Stars Over Texas competition. Wolfsen was recently honored with ‘Best of Show” at the prestigious, juried Breckenridge Fine Art National and International competition and show in Breckenridge, Texas.

Linda Watkins, Co-owner of Your Private Collection, believes that, “Good art should make you feel something. For example, does it evoke excitement, peace, relaxation? Does it remind you of a past experience, a moment or a place? With Jack Wolfsen, one definitely feels a range of emotions.”

Galleries of Granbury—Last Saturday Gallery Night

Come celebrate Wolfsen’s art at Your Private Collection Art Gallery on March 25 as part of Galleries of Granbury’s Last Saturday Gallery Night.

The Galleries of Granbury will host “Last Saturday Gallery Night” (a free art walk) on the last Saturday of each month. All are open until 8pm with “meet the artists”, opening receptions, demonstrations, hors d’oeuvres, wine and music.

Come visit – Artefactz, Langdon Center Art Gallery, Shanley House Art Gallery, Against the Grain Studio, and Your Private Collection Art Gallery along with D’Vine Wine and The Pan Handle on March 25 5-8 pm.

A big THANK YOU to all the LGAA members that submitted work for the Spring Show Poster. You will see them hung around the historic square and around town. The decision was difficult and we were looking for work that paired up well visually with another piece. The decision was so difficult that we are going to use TWO posters this year. Congratulations to Pam Tullos, Telise Rodelv, James Stewart and Jill Randall.

Your Private Collection Art Gallery Anniversary & History

1YPCtenhistoryA Little History About Your Private Collection Art Gallery

Energetically Supporting the Arts for Ten Years

It’s June 2007 and Home by Design Magazine announces “..a new exciting art gallery, featuring local and international artists, now calls Granbury home”. The gallery opened in an 80-year-old house transformed into five rooms of unique, original artworks called Your Private Collection Art Gallery. One great feature of the location was a New Orleans style courtyard garden, which was a great gathering spot for art events and wine tastings.

Stacey Watkins, co-owner and one of the featured artists, was the primary reason for opening the gallery. Stacey had invented a new medium using her knowledge of science along with resin, metals, fused glass and other materials to create works of glow-in-the-dark fantasy. The gallery was a way to introduce this unique art.

According to the other owner, Linda Watkins, “The gallery was a way to introduce Stacey’s unique art.  Your Private Collection was also founded on other principles—original art by awarded artists located within a 60 mile radius and displaying a large variety of mediums since art preference is different for each individual. This allows the gallery to work one-on-one with the artists to fill any needs a client might have.”

After one year, the gallery moved from one block off Granbury’s Historical Square to its current location at 106 N. Houston on the square.  The three room gallery now represents over 50 artists and has been stated as “a must see” by Southern Living Magazine.

What makes this gallery flourish at a time when many galleries are closing? It is Your Private Collection Art Gallery’s historical location in a top-destination, small town; its renown anchor artists including Soon Y Warren, Sharon Markwardt, Bob Cook, Stacey Watkins, Aaron Thane Tate and Randy Meador and frequent introduction of new artists and art. It is events, like monthly Last Saturday Gallery Nights, which combine art with fun and personal relationships between the artists, clients and guests.

The goal of the gallery is to continue helping clients to build and enjoy their own private collection. A visit to the gallery, its website, www.yourprivatecollection.com , or its Facebook page, shows the results of ten years of energetically supporting the arts.

Dinner in White fundraiser for Granbury Arts Alliance Sept. 24

dinner-in-white-granbury1

Granbury Arts Alliance Presents its First Annual Dinner in White

September 24 7-9pm

What happens when a pop-up dinner and flash mob converge at a beautiful outdoor location amidst public art near the Historic Granbury Square? Join the Granbury Arts Alliance (GAA) for their Annual Membership Drive and first annual “Dinner in White” picnic to find out!

On September 24th, at the Langdon Center lawn (one block east of the Square), you are invited to join the GAA and about a 100 of your closest friends from 7-9pm (set-up may begin as early as 6:30pm) for dinner and dancing amid art and the stars. There’s a caveat though…

This fabulous evening will be modeled after an event that started in Paris in 1988 and has since become an international sensation – a dinner attended in elegant, all white attire, with all white table settings. Each participant brings their own setup (tables 28”-32” square, chairs, or a picnic blanket), and food and beverages (wine and beer are fine). If you want to attend but don’t feel inclined to cook, order your food to go in advance from one of the partnering local restaurants on the Square (see list of participating establishments).

That same evening, the Galleries of Granbury will be having their Last Saturday Gallery Night beginning at 5pm… Check out the art first, pick up your dinner-to-go, ride the free tram over to the Langdon Center and prepare to eat, drink, and dance the night away to live music on the gorgeous stone patio under the amazing oaks.

When the event is done, everything packed in is packed back out, and the property is left as pristine as before…Now go find those white pants and loafers you’ve been hanging onto since 1978 – you just knew you’d eventually need them again!

There is a preregistration required of $10/person – which may be applied in full towards a GAA membership should you choose to be a part of GAA’s year round activities.

For Registration:  www.granburyartsalliance.org

These wonderful eateries on the Square have partnered with us and will give Dinner in White participants the opportunity to order and buy their meals in advance. The restaurants will individually let folks know if they have special choices designed for the event or if the whole menu is available. So please, give them a call, and pick up your order on the way to a wonderful evening.1890 Grille–Christina’s–Ketzler’s–Pearl Street Station–Paradise Bistro–The Filling Station–Farina’s

Aaron Thane Tate and Cynthia Ross featured at Your Private Art Collection Aug. 27

YourPrivateCollection-August

Your Private Collection Art Gallery is proud to present

Aaron Thane Tate and Cynthia Ross as their featured artists at Granbury’s Last Saturday Gallery Night on August 27—5-8pm

Aaron Tate’s work in solid worked, blown, and cast glass includes natural subjects, made objects, and landscapes. Tate has developed a style in which the images are often beautiful or classic and, yet, enigmatic. By the use of a repetitive light and dark technique superimposed on the surface color, he is able to affect an atmospheric quality to sculptures.

Tate worked in lead positions with world-renowned glass artists Dale Chihuly and Martin Blank in Seattle for 13 years. Projects included the famous Chihuly’s Persian and Sea Forms, the Ikebana series, the Seattle Symphony chandelier and the Bellagio ceiling.

Some of my pieces are happy and uplifting and others make one pensive and thoughtful. That is what the artist strives for—a personal response to a sculpture, an object, that evokes something from one’s personal experiences in this space-time.” said Tate.

Cynthia Ross constantly pushes to create new and exciting elements in her art, incorporating the colors and textures found in nature. When she is not honing her skills in the studio, she can be found taking photographs or searching for items she wants to emulate in glass.  Cynthia finds she draws consistently on her landscape design background when creating movement and using color.

Last Saturday Gallery Night –Your Private Collection is one of five galleries which host this free art walk on the last Saturday of each month on the Historic Square in Granbury.

These “Galleries of Granbury” also include Artefactz, Langdon Center Art Gallery, Shanley House Art Gallery and Uptown Arts-John G. Campbell Gallery. Sculptors Margaret Drake and Stacey Watkins at Your Private Collection in Granbury on July 30

Your Private Collection--Drake-Watkins

Your Private Collection Art Gallery is proud to present sculptors Margaret Drake and Stacey Watkins as their featured artists at Granbury’s Last Saturday Gallery Night on July 30, 2016

Margaret Drake
, bronze sculptor and Western Artist, lives on a ranch near Glen Rose, Texas.  Studying under renowned artists, Margaret focuses on portraiture and figurative art.  Her Native Americans and horses have been accepted into juried competitions including the Bosque Art Classic, Mountain Oyster, Estes Park, Breckenridge Fine Art Show, Little Rock’s “Sculpture at the Rivermarket” and the Loveland “Sculpture in the Park” Show.  Working with both water- and oil-based clays, Drake loves the “..wonder when that lifeless lump of clay comes alive.” She closely supervises the creation of her bronze pieces at the foundry. “I will always want to challenge myself by creating pieces that express movement and power,” said Drake, “..to tug at the emotions of my audience.
There is beauty and symmetry everywhere out there, waiting to be captured and celebrated.”

Stacey Watkins, phosphorescent sculptor, has found her passion and her voice through her art and her own spiritual journey.  Her art, like life, is full of a variety, color, and science.  She set no boundaries when it comes to the use of mediums ranging from glass, metal, paint, and resin.  Watkins combines these mediums with resin impregnated with blends of phosphorescent pigment, unique because it absorbs UV light to glow in the dark with bright contrasting vibrant colors.  Her artwork is true expression of continuing life in its ability to change visually and create dialogue with the viewer.  “I want people to be able to look at my art and see something that may strike a spark in their imagination and give them a feeling of the Lord’s presence,” said Watkins. She is the owner of Your Private Collection Art Gallery and has been honored in many national and international competitions and shows.

Your Private Collection reminds you that someone can show you the technical aspects of artwork, but a relationship with art is developed by spending time viewing art and meeting artists and adds a new love in your life.
