A $20 deposit is required to reserve your place in the workshop.
You may send payment in part, or the full amount, to the address above Attn. Printmaking Workshop.
This is the list of supplies and paper recommendations that Sharon has provided for her printmaking workshop:
Supplies needed: Acrylic paint and medium, paper, water container, spray bottle, paper towels and other optional tools such as stencils, masks, stamps, and mark-making tools, (brush, scraper, etc). If you have a gelli plate and brayer, please bring those. Please let the instructor know if you need to borrow one.  Bring an apron or wear grunge clothes.
Hot press watercolor paper works well, and inexpensive Strathmore wc paper works. I like the Strathmore Aquarius paper for serious acrylic work. I usually recommend mixed media paper which reminds me of lightweight hot press wc paper. You can get it spiral bound or in pads. Whatever you choose, it should be acid free of course.
For this workshop we will provide basic student grade acrylics for experimenting, but bring any additional colors or artist grade paints if you wish.
Student-grade paper will also be provided – you may also bring any art paper or cloth you want to experiment with.
If you want to purchase your own gel plate gelli arts or gel press brands are recommended.  These can be found at Hobby Lobby and Walmart locally and online at amazon of course. Speedball also has a version, but it is more appropriate for ink than acrylic.
You may also want to bring some tools for creating texture. There is no need to purchase these items, look for objects around your home that will create interesting texture such as corrugated cardboard, bubble wrap, paper/plastic stencils, makeup sponges, Qtips, stamps (foam or rubber). I will provide a kit of some interesting things I’ve collected as well so don’t worry too much about this unless you have a specific idea for something you want to create.
We have plenty of water containers so don’t worry about this item.
Looking forward to seeing you all at the workshop, let me know if you have any questions.

Acrylic Printmaking with a Gelli Plate March 17

Acrylic Printmaking with a Gelli Plate

Thursday, March 17th 10 am – 3 pm (with an hour break for lunch)

Instructor: Sharon Giles

Put the fun back into your art! Learn how to do acrylic monoprints by using a Gelli Plate.  No press needed! If you’re perfectionistic or have a fear of making a wrong mark or ruining a piece of art paper, learning gelli printing will definitely remove it. You will make lots of art, and it will be messy, but fun.

Supplies needed: Acrylic paint and medium, paper, water container, spray bottle, paper towels and other tools such as stencils, masks, stamps, and mark-making tools, such as a brush, scraper, etc. If you have a gelli plate and brayer, please bring those. Please let the instructor know if you need to borrow one.  Bring an apron or wear grunge clothes.

The acrylic can be any type or consistency of acrylic, including craft brands. The paper doesn’t need to be expensive: cheap watercolor paper, mixed media paper, drawing paper, bristol, copy paper, deli paper and even canvas paper. The instructor will bring extra paper, paints, stencils, stamps and other tools for you to experiment with.

For information on Gelli Plates, see http://www.gelliarts.com/. If you wish to make your own: http://sharongilesart.com/making-your-own-gelatinglycerin-plate/

Cost: $65  To register, go to http://trinityartsguild.org/workshops/gelliprintingfun.html Questions: contact sharongiles@gmail.com.
