VAGF Monthly meeting Feb. 13: Color Composition – Annie Royer

Join VAGF members for the monthly meeting on Monday, February 13 from 7-9pm at Expedition Frisco (9073 Berkshire Dr. Frisco, TX 75033).

Come join us to hear about upcoming art events from Tammy Suh Meinershagen, Executive director of Frisco Arts. Followed by demonstration from Annie Royer on Color Composition.

A strong color composition is Annie Royer’s top priority in every project, whether a painting or an interior design project.  Through dialogue and demonstration, she’ll share some of the ways she arrives at a color composition that pleases her.  Because colorways are very personal, bring 5 or so of your favorite colors (tubes of paint, pieces of fabric, whatever is your medium of choice) with which to experiment.

We also will have a mini-critique. Bring a piece of artwork (framing not necessary) and it can even be work-in -progress for a friendly feedback.  We will draw for a prize at the meeting for participating Artists.  

Come join in for a fun, creative night.

The Visual Arts Guild of Frisco will host a closing reception for the open art show featuring pieces by more than 24 members and non-members in the Frisco Art Gallery at the Frisco Discovery Center. The reception from 3-5PM is free and open to the public.

Call for ARTrageous Submissions – June 21st Deadline!

The Visual Arts Guild of Frisco will host an open art show for members and non-members this summer in the Frisco Art Gallery at Frisco’s Discovery Center. Come during regular business hours to view art of all mediums and genres from local artists. Submit up to 5 images to artwithpaige@gmail.com BY JUNE 21 to be considered for this show.

Up to three images will be accepted per artist. Entry fee is $10 for VAGF members and $20 for non-VAGF members.

Pieces must be ready-to-hang. Drop off will be June 28th from 12-2pm at the Frisco Discovery Center.

Nov 20 – extended DEADLINE to submit Entry Form for 3rd Annual Fest of Trees in Frisco!

Create and give back to the community this holiday season! You are invited to submit a tree, wreath, or two-dimensional artwork for silent auction and display in the Frisco Art Gallery at the Frisco Discovery Center, 8004 N. Dallas Pkwy, Frisco, TX 75034.

One hundred percent of the proceeds from the sale of any tree or wreath goes to CASA of Collin County, whereas thirty percent of the proceeds from the sale of any tree or holiday-themed two-dimensional art piece will go to CASA, with the remaining seventy percent going back to the artist.

Frisco Arts is hosting a canned goods sculpture exhibition to benefit Frisco Family Services’ Food Pantry.

Create a canned goods sculpture out of Thanksgiving food cans for a two-week display in the Frisco Art Gallery at the Frisco Discovery Center, 8004 N. Dallas Pkwy, Frisco, TX 75034.

Third Annual Festival of Trees in Frisco – NO Entry FEE! Call for trees, wreaths, and 2D work!

Celebrate the holiday season by creatively giving back to your community! Create a tree, wreath, or two-dimensional piece of artwork to benefit CASA of Collin County. 100% of the proceeds of the sale of any tree or wreath will go to CASA, whereas 30% of the proceeds of the sale of any two-dimensional art piece will go to CASA and the remaining 70% will go back to the artist. “urban footprint” – exclusive call for photography!

“urban footprint” is a strictly photographic exhibit slated for May 7-31, 2013 in the Frisco Art Gallery, 8004 N. Dallas Pkwy, Frisco, TX 75034.

From an individual footprint to a complex skyline, human industry and creativity have altered and transformed the natural world. This exhibit seeks photographs that capture a moment in, a representative of, or a monument to, civilization.

Images may show the positive and negative effects upon nature including cityscapes, altered landscapes, urban jungles, city dwellers, city workers, night life, government officials, environmental pollution, automobiles, machines, and more!

Selections will reflect a creative interpretation of the advance of human agency, particularly in the context of the city.

DEADLINE to submit: April 26.

Paho Mann, Assistant Professor of Photography at the College of Visual Arts and Design at the University of North Texas, will jury the exhibit.

4th Annual Arts in the Square NON-JURIED Booth Space Now Available!

We want to invite you to participate in Arts in the Square, a juried fine art festival. Frisco Square is opening a section of the show to art vendors/merchants to enjoy this wonderful event.

Details:

-Arts in the Square
March 23-24, 2013 (11am – 6pm each day)
-Last year, about 15,000 people attended
-Free Event and free parking
-Deadline to submit form and payment is March 15th
-Space limited

-All booth space is 10×10 (can be doubled)
-no power or water is available
-Overnight security on Saturday night
-$300 for the entire weekend for a 10×10 booth

OZmosis Call for DFW-area Artists!

Enter your fantastical, ephemeral, and journey-or-destination-inspired artworks using any media to the OZmosis exhibit March 5-30 in the Frisco Art Gallery! Pieces may directly or implicitly refer to the absorption or diffusion of themes and/or characters in the Wizard of Oz book or movies. Limited three-dimensional space available.

Deadline to enter: FEB 15, 5PM
