Harvest Art Exhibit: Call for Artists

Art Exhibition from Oct 31st- Dec 3rd. http://friscodiscoverycenter.com/index.php/frisco-art-gallery/

The Frisco Art Gallery is looking for artists with a desire to exhibit any two-dimensional works.

Submission deadline is Monday, Oct. 10.

A $30 entry fee per artist is required. Artists may submit up to 5 pieces.

To submit work, send .jpegs of individual works to dhill@friscotexas.gov.

Work must be titled with artist’s name.

Artist will be notified of their acceptance on or before Saturday, Oct. 22.

Upon acceptance:

Artist agreement must be completed

List: artist, title, size, media, description, and price attached to back of work.

To meet gallery requirements, work must be ready-to-hang for Arakawa Railing System (wire on back is best).

  • Drop off date will be Sunday, Oct. 30 between 10am-12pm.

Entry fee ($30) due by drop off date. Check or credit card only. No cash. Checks made out to “City of Frisco”

  • Pick up will be Sunday, Dec. 4 between 12pm-2pm.

The Visual Arts Guild of Frisco will host an open art show for members and non-members this summer in the Frisco Art Gallery at Frisco’s Discovery Center. Come during regular business hours to view art of all mediums and genres from local artists. Submit up to 5 images to artwithpaige@gmail.com BY JUNE 21 to be considered for this show.

Up to three images will be accepted per artist. Entry fee is $10 for VAGF members and $20 for non-VAGF members.

Pieces must be ready-to-hang. Drop off will be June 28th from 12-2pm at the Frisco Discovery Center.

April 25 Deadline – Call for Art: “POP! Goes the Photograph” in the Frisco Art Gallery

If Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, and Ansel Adams collaborated, what sort of artistic interpretations would they come up with? You have a chance to submit  artworks that explicitly or implicitly incorporate photography and American pop-culture.

Calling all artists who work with images in mixed media! Looking for pop-influenced images, some photographically produced, some iconic, and all applied in innovative ways to canvas, matte board, paper, panel, sculpture, and more!

“emoji: show what you feel” – call for art – Frisco Art Gallery – DEADLINE JAN 28

Frisco Arts is hosting an open art exhibition for ages 15 and up. Emoticons are widely used in texting to convey nuances of feelings such as love, goofiness, sadness, anger, fright, and happiness. How do you creatively express your emotions in art? Open to artists, ages 15 and up, working in any media. Pieces must be ready to hang or display, fully compatible with the Arakawa Cable and Rail system.

Submit up to 5 images of your work by January 28 to pprater@friscoarts.org to be considered for the show. If accepted, you will be notified within 48 hours and the drop-off will take place from 12-2PM on Monday, Feb 2. Entry form, release, and fees ($20 for students; $30 for professionals) will be due upon drop-off.

“sculptechular 2014” – Call for all things 3D! Deadline 8/22

Frisco Arts presents the 2nd annual “sculptechular” in the Frisco Art Gallery (smaller works) and the Special Events Center (installations) at the Frisco Discovery Center, 8004 N. Dallas Pkwy, Frisco, TX 75034. This includes a one-month juried art exhibition from 9.3-10.4, a two-week juried installations exhibition from 9.3-9.13, and a two-day spectacle with demos, a panel discussion, and reception on 9.6 and 9.7.

A “Most sculptechular” best of show award will be given to the winner during the reception on Sunday, September 7th, from 2-4PM.

Photographs have power to shift one’s perspective, often literally. “Keep Looking Up” is the theme for the Frisco Art Gallery’s exclusively photography show, May 5-31.  When one looks up, what does one see? What or who moves upward? The interpretation of this theme is not limited to skyscapes or skyscrapers.

“Salvaged” Art Show Reception + Panel Discussion NEXT Wed, April 9

Interested in artwork made from salvaged materials and the artistic process of creating them?

Come on out to see the “Salvaged” exhibition in the Frisco Art Gallery at the Frisco Discovery Center, 8004 N. Dallas Pkwy, Frisco, TX 75034. The reception and panel discussion happens Wed, April 9,  from 7-9PM. The panel will be comprised of:

  • Karen Dodson, one of the jurors for the “Salvaged” exhibition and a local artist who does murals and constructs small robots out of found objects
  • Jody Wissing, another participating local artist in the “Salvaged” exhibition, member of Frisco’s Public Art Board, and explorer of abandoned towns and buildings
  • Elizabeth Salmon,  another participating artist in the “Salvaged” exhibition, and a high-schooler at Wakeland in Frisco ISD

Participating artist Janine Maupin will also give a brief gallery talk and the “Best of Show” winner will be announced. FREE and open to the public.

The Frisco Art Gallery is hosting an exhibition of two and three-dimensional works in a variety of media for the month of April. The catch? Each piece must be consciously constructed with materials that are reused or repurposed and/or with non-toxic, “all natural,” organic, or otherwise “green” mediums.

Frisco Arts is partnering with the Visual Arts Guild of Frisco to offer a holiday exhibition in the Frisco Art Gallery with a silent auction to benefit CASA of Collin County. 100% of the proceeds from the sale of any tree or wreath will go to CASA of Collin County. 70% of the proceeds of the sale of any two-dimensional piece of artwork will go to CASA, with 30% going back to the artist. Open-house reception on Dec 8, from 2-5PM.

All artwork displayed during Festival of Trees 2013 must be for sale. If two-dimensional artwork sells, 30% of the sale goes to CASA of Collin County and 70% goes back to support the artist. If a tree or wreath sells, 100% goes to CASA of Collin County.

THIS THURSDAY: urban footprint photography reception & panel discussion

Join us this Thursday evening, May 16, from 7-9PM for the “urban footprint” photography show reception, in the Frisco Art Gallery: 8004 N. Dallas Pkway, Frisco, TX 75034.

At 7:30PM, there will be a panel discussion with three participating artists: Gerry Burns, Matthew Golden, and Stephen Masker.

At 8PM, the “Best of Show” award will be announced, as selected by juror, Paho Mann, Assistant Professor of Photography at the University of North Texas.

Juror: Myra Walker, curator/Director of the Texas Fashion Collection since 1987.

“urban footprint” – exclusive call for photography!

“urban footprint” is a strictly photographic exhibit slated for May 7-31, 2013 in the Frisco Art Gallery, 8004 N. Dallas Pkwy, Frisco, TX 75034.

From an individual footprint to a complex skyline, human industry and creativity have altered and transformed the natural world. This exhibit seeks photographs that capture a moment in, a representative of, or a monument to, civilization.

Images may show the positive and negative effects upon nature including cityscapes, altered landscapes, urban jungles, city dwellers, city workers, night life, government officials, environmental pollution, automobiles, machines, and more!

Selections will reflect a creative interpretation of the advance of human agency, particularly in the context of the city.

DEADLINE to submit: April 26.

Does your artwork visually dialog with this phenomena thematically or directly?

From April 8-28 in the Frisco Art Gallery, “Dress it UP!” will highlight artwork engaging with ideas of gender, beauty, and popularity, particularly in the context of material culture and modes of dress.
