TRADEMARK PROPERTY CO. IMPLEMENTS LOCAL PUBLIC ART PROGRAMS AT TWO FORT WORTH DEVELOPMENTS
Art programs at Waterside and WestBend underscore Fort Worth-based developer’s commitment to local talent
FORT WORTH, Texas (Dec. 7, 2015) – Trademark Property Co. today announced new public art programs underway at the developer’s two Fort Worth properties, Waterside and WestBend. The art programs are intended to support Fort Worth culture and arts through historical tributes and commissions by local artists. They are a part of Trademark’s Conscious Place initiative; a stakeholder driven development model that aims to ensure that its properties are more than just places of commerce, but also places of community and meaning.

Trademark has commissioned Texas artist Bob Wade to lead the public art program at Waterside, the company’s first ground up Conscious Place mixed-use development. Currently under construction at Bryant Irvin Road and Arborlawn Drive, the 63-acre site previously served as the Lockheed Martin Recreation Association (LMRA). As part of the program, which will be a combination of sculpture and murals, Wade will repurpose amusement rides and play equipment located on the original site into public art that will be located around Waterside. In addition, Wade is giving new life to vintage black and white photographs that tell the history of the property over the past 75 years by hand tinting the images and transforming them into on site murals. The art is slated for installation in spring/summer 2016.
At WestBend, located in Fort Worth’s University District, two local artists with ties to neighboring Texas Christian University (TCU), Devon Nowlin and Cam Schoepp, have been selected for public art commissions at the property.
Fort Worth native Nowlin created five photographic murals that capture the shopping and dining experience, health and fitness, and the natural surroundings of the WestBend property. Installed in early December, Nowlin’s murals are displayed throughout the property, focusing on the areas facing the scenic Trinity River and Trinity River Trails. Schoepp, an associate professor of art at TCU, will install a ten-foot tall sculpture in spring 2016 which will incorporate a water feature into the welcoming green space near the valet area.
Waterside is a 63-acre mixed-use development currently under construction at Bryant Irvin Road and Arborlawn Drive in Fort Worth, Texas. Phase I, which is slated for completion in 2016, includes retail and restaurants, signature public space, The Grove, 383 multi-family units and a number of Conscious Place amenities. Tenants will include Whole Foods Market, REI, Taco Diner, Zoes Kitchen, Blaze Pizza, Sleep Train, Massage Heights, Envy Nails, Amazing Lash Studio plus many additional retail and restaurants. At full build out, Waterside will be a walkable, dynamic district including 200,000 square feet of retail space and riverside restaurants, 800 multifamily residential units, two to three hotels, office buildings, and potential for additional high density single family housing, much of which will be situated along the Trinity River. WestBend is located on the Trinity River in Fort Worth’s University District, one of Dallas-Fort Worth’s strongest infill retail corridors. WestBend is undergoing a major redevelopment adding new retail, restaurants and WestBend 2, a new 81,150-square-foot building that includes The Fresh Market on the ground floor and 57,000 square feet of new Class A office space directly above.
