2015 AIA Unbuilt Design Awards

safe_image

As public discourse in Dallas becomes increasingly vital to understanding where we are as a city, and where we want to be, the Dallas Chapter of the American Institute of Architects seeks to enable continuing dialogue on important issues between the profession and the community. To this end, AIA Dallas has transformed the 2015 Unbuilt Design Awards program into an interactive event and public exhibition featuring new ideas for the future from the architect’s perspective.

The AIA Dallas Design Awards recognizes outstanding work by Dallas architects, both in the metropolitan area and across the country. The purpose of the awards program is to honor the architects, clients, and consultants who work together to achieve design excellence.

The 2015 Unbuilt Design Awards are hosted this year by Mokah Gallery in Deep Ellum.  The exhibition will run through July 11, with a closing reception on July 11 from 6-9pm.  The closing will include a discussion with the winning project teams.

Reduce – Reuse – Recycle

1415112202

Recycling, reusing, and repurposing has long been an important issue. We have become a “throw away” society. Excess has become a way of life. When is enough going to be enough? In response to wasting our natural resources, many artists have become assemblage sculptors and painters.

This exhibit honors those artists who have expressed themselves creatively through the use of mixed media and recycled materials.

Opening Reception: Saturday, November 15 from 6:00-9:00 pm
Exhibit on display through January 10th.
