Garden_Treasures_Chris_Brandley_web

  • Ages teen to adult
  • 9:30am to 4:00pm (1-hour lunch break)
  • July 28-29 (2-day workshop)
  • $250.00
  • Elm Street Studio; Keller Texas

This workshop will include step by step demonstrations, one on one individual easel time, and fun exercises to learn how to loosen up and create bold, colorful paintings. Chris uses the “Alla Prima” method of painting (working wet into wet) and will teach you how to layer with transparent and opaque oils, and how to keep your paints from getting muddy. She will show you how to take an ordinary photograph, and use artistic license to paint from the heart by infusing clean, bold color, loose brush strokes, and beautiful lighting. There will be an emphasis on color mixing, composition, brushwork, and more. Learn to see “Impressionistically,” and explore your ability to “suggest” rather than “render” the subject. Come prepared to have a relaxing, fun-filled learning experience. This class is for all levels of painting from beginners to advanced! It is designed to help you take your painting to the next level. Click here for more information.

Art Exhibit and Reception: A Moment in Cuba | Amy McMurry

Sun Kissed Card

The images captured by McMurry during her stay in Cuba express her observations of the people of the island. She found them to be resourceful, artistic, outgoing, and dynamic. Every piece represents a different moment in Cuba. Every moment is just that, a fleeting passage of time. In the blink of an eye, or the click of a camera shutter, everything changes. A Moment in Cuba is McMurry’s work that shares the beauty witnessed during her visit. The exhibit runs through June 24, 2017. Please join us for a complimentary reception to meet the artist on Friday, June 16th from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Visit www.ElmStreetStudioKeller.com for more information.

Art Exhibit and Reception: Capturing the Dream | Irma Ward

finley_irma-ward

Capturing the Dream | Irma Ward

Reception:
Friday, January 27
6:00 to 8:00 pm

Ward begins with a sketch that can be contrived as a recognizable scene or accessible shapes, then transforms the surface, layer after layer, until the painting is complete. Ward shares a favorite quote from Marc Chagall speaking about the meaning of ‘abstract,’ “…something which comes to life spontaneously through a gamut of contracts….and pervades both the picture and the eye of the spectator with conceptions of new and unfamiliar elements.” With Wards paintings, too the final image may have no visible connection with the initial sketch, but will inspire the viewer to find “new and unfamiliar elements.

“Capturing the Dream, paintings by Irma Ward” will be on view from January 3 to February 27 at Elm Street Studio in Keller, Texas. Please join us for a complimentary reception and meet the artist on Friday, January 27th from 6 to 8pm. To see more of Wards’ work and for details, please visit www.ElmStreetStudioKeller.com.

In addition to her abstract pieces, Ward is sharing with us a portion of a wonderful series she has created called “Diary of Susie Swimmer.” Ward explored a 30 day challenge to create a new painting every day for a month. For continuity, Ward designed still life paintings and included the same ceramic figurine – Susie Swimmer in each of the 30 paintings. Stop by to see some of these whimsical painting, and read the story associated with each.

A portion of all art sale proceeds will benefit the Disabled American Veterans.

Gallery Hours: Tuesday to Friday from 1 to 5pm and by appointment
