Now showing at ArtSpace at Metropolitan Press, new works by Dawn Freeland and Dovie Wu.Come see the work of Dawn Freeland and Dovie Wu, on display April 5-28, 2017. Meet the artists at this week’s reception on Thursday, April 6 from 6 to 9 pm.

Dawn Freeland is a multimedia artist living in Dallas, Texas. She grew up in East Tennessee surrounded by music, art and storytelling. She is a winner in the Artist’s Network 2016 Acrylic Competition and will be featured in ACRYLICWORKS 4: Captivating Color published by North Light Books. Her work ranges from serene to lively and can be seen in collections both nationally and internationally. Find out more about the artist at www.dawnfreelandart.com

Dovie Wu seeks to convey movement and sensibility in her work, and enjoys exploring different painting styles, incorporating multi media and supporting surfaces. Wu loves to travel to different places to do plein air painting. Whether in Spain, Italy, Scotland, China or here in America, she often painted watercolors on location and was inspired by the new landscapes from these countries.

Open to the public, the ArtSpace gallery is located inside the Metropolitan Press building at 1250 Majesty Drive in Dallas. FBCAA Meeting / Workshop Feb. 18 DOVIE WU

The Farmer’s Branch Carrollton Art Association will hold their monthly meeting on Tuesday, February 18. in the Craft Room of the Farmer’s Branch Senior Center, 14055 Dennis Lane, near Valwood.  The meeting begins at 9:30 a.m. and workshop is from 1:00 – 3:00.  The workshop includes a presentation on watercolor and yupo paper by Dovie Wu, co-owner of Artists’ Showplace Gallery. Dovie began her painting journey in watercolor, but soon found herself experimenting in a variety of other media, like pastels, oils and acrylics. Dovie travels extensively because she enjoys plein air painting. Whether in Spain, Italy, or here in America, she often paints watercolor paintings on location. “I incorporate movement and the spirit of music in my paintings, using vibrant colors, to paint people and landscapes that inspire me.”

Dovie is a signature member of the Southwest Watercolor Society. Her work has been accepted in both the Southwest Watercolor Society and the Pastel Society of the Southwest, juried shows. She won the Best of Show for the Vertu 2010 show.
