45th Edom Art Festival Oct. 14 & 15

Edom Prepares for 2017 Art Festival

EDOM, TX –For more than 45 years, the small artists’ community of Edom in East Texas has hosted a festival for working artists presenting their talents to an appreciative audience of gifters and collectors.  The festival is the premier art show in East Texas.  High quality art, fine crafts, live music and great food & wine fill the festival grounds behind the resident artists’ studios on the one main street in town, Farm to Market road 279.

This year’s festival takes place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, October 14 and Sunday, October 15.  Admission is free.

Visit the resident artists’ studios on the main street, for which Edom is well known.  While in town for the festival, visitors can enjoy local restaurants, The Shed and Jamie’s Café, and tour the gardens of Edom: Blue Moon Gardens, Blueberry Hill farms, and Glenda Mae’s Daylily Farm.  The “artistic” atmosphere of Edom brings forth the “creative spirit” in everyone who visits.

Edom, an easy day trip from the metroplex, is located halfway between Dallas and Shreveport, 10 miles south of Interstate 20.  Go to visitedom.com for a detailed schedule of events, local lodging and a map.

Monotypes by Jeanne P. Sturdevant ©
“Moonotypes are a hybrid o painting and printmaking. The result is one of a kind print. watercolors are painted onto Plexglass ©, then a rubber roller and hand pressure is used to transfer the painting to dampened paper.Although enough pigment may remain on the Plexiglass © to print as the only print, a one-of-a-kind watercolor monotype,
The slick surface of the sheet acrylic allows me  to “skate” the paint over the surface in unique ways, makeing monotypes very compatible with my own  organic style. However being able to mke unlimited revisions before committing the painting to paper is the main advantage of this process. The transfer to paper is done when I am completely satisfied with the painting.” ©
Jeanne holds a Master of Science in Art and Education from Texas Tech University Lubbock Texas and a Bachelor of Science in Art Education Texas Tech Lubbock Texas.Jeanne is adjunct instrucator  at Paris Junior College- Greenvile Tx. Jeanne has exhibited extensively throughout the Dallas Metroplex  in group, solo and invitational shows.
