CADD announces CADDfund 2017

Contemporary Art Dealers of Dallas Present

CADD FUNd 2017

Sunday, March 5th, 5:00 – 7:30 pm

3015 AT TRINITY GROVES
3015 Gulden Lane
Dallas, TX 75212

Contemporary Art Dealers of Dallas will again celebrate creativity and community with a Sunday Soup Supper onMarch 5th at 3015 at Trinity Groves. CADD FUNd 2017 will be a fun, fast-paced evening of sharing innovative ideas about potential artistic projects. CADD FUNd 2017 will make possible a high-impact idea that needs the support of the DFW arts community.

The idea for the annual CADD FUNd was inspired by similar events throughout the United States such as Feast in Brooklyn, Incubate in Chicago and Spread in Santa Fe. Over the past several years, numerous organizations have taken the basic premise of a Sunday soup dinner – collect creative proposals, invite the public to pay, eat, and listen, and then democratically vote for a winner – and adapted it to their own local purposes.

This year’s CADD FUNd will be awarded to a current or previous B.A, B.F.A., M.A. or M.F.A. graduate or candidate from an institution within 100 miles of Dallas. Six finalists will be selected from all of the applicants by three esteemed jurors to be announced soon. (Past jurors included: Gabriel Ritter, Judy Deaton, William Rudolph, Michael Mazurak, Jed Morse and Justine Ludwig.)

During the event on March 5th, the finalists will present short proposals for original and yet-to-be-realized new projects. Members of the audience will have an opportunity to ask questions and then the audience participants will vote for their favorite project. After a short recess to tally the votes, the winner of CADD FUNd 2017 will be announced!

The CADD FUNd is $2500 – $7500 + and beyond. Funds are raised by ticket sales and will go to the winner chosen by the audience. Tickets are $40 per person and will go on sale in January. Tickets will not be available at the door. In an effort to make CADD FUNd 2017 as accessible as possible for the students and artists, $10 of each ticket sold will be applied to jurors’ fees and administrative costs in lieu of charging application fees.

The 2015 CADD FUNd was awarded to Rachel Rushing for her project- Sunset Art Studios: An Oak Cliff artist run studio and exhibition space. Named for the former Sunset Streetcar Line, Sunset Art Studios is a culturally invested art space. A group of local artists develop their work while providing the surrounding community opportunities to directly engage in the process of art. Ms. Rushing will give a short presentation at the event about her project, Sunset Art Studios.

While CADD FUNd is about raising much-needed cash, we hope that it will also be a forum to discuss the many other needs and resources that help make projects happen.

CADD Fall Art Bus Tour Sept. 10

CADDbusSept10

CONTEMPORARY ART DEALERS OF DALLAS
present
CADD FALL BUS TOUR
SEPTEMBER 10TH, 2016
9:45 am – 2:30 pm

Contemporary Art Dealers of Dallas presents a CADD Early Fall Bus Tour on Saturday, September 10, 2016 from 9:45 am – 2:30 pm. CADD has been promoting the visual arts through unique programming since 2006 and the bus tours have been going strong since 2011. Bus Tour participants gain access to artist’s studios, galleries, private collections, art installations and other special venues! Buy a bus ticket today and join the fun!

Meet at Ro2 Art

at 9:45 and be the first to preview two new exhibitions. Gillian Bradshaw-Smith’s Finding Daphne, is long-anticipated first Dallas solo exhibition of new paintings and large scale textile collages by the Dallas-based artist who first gained notoriety in 1970s New York, garnering several important solo exhibitions and museum shows.  For Upstart Crow, Robin Ragin presents a new series of assemblages inspired by her mentor of 15 years, David McManaway – a contemplative farewell after his passing about the profound possibilities of objects left behind by others. At 10:30 the bus heads north to the private museum, The Warehouse

, for a tour with Caitlin Overton of their exhibition curated by Allan Schwartzman. Identity Revisited is an examination of personal and cultural notions of identity in contemporary art. International in scope and spanning many generations, this exhibition includes work that addresses history, gender, race, childhood, mortality, and memory. Identity Revisited draws works from The Rachofsky Collection, Amy and Vernon Faulconer, Dallas Museum of Art, Goss-Michael Collection, The Pinnell Collection, the Collection of Marguerite and Robert Hoffman, The Rose Collection, and Sharon and Michael Young.

Travel on in North Dallas to Valley House Gallery & Sculpture Garden

for a preview of David Gibson: Still Light, a survey exhibition celebrating their 26-year collaboration and two publications designed by award-winning Nazraeli Press, with an essay by John Rohrbach, Senior Curator of Photography at the Amon Carter Museum. Thirty years of works from silver gelatin to archival pigment prints show highlights of his career to date. Enjoy lunch on the terrace in the sculpture garden at Valley House. Move onward to the home of Debra Stevens and Scott Jackson to view their collection of contemporary Texas artists. Tour the dynamic contemporary architectural changes and the garden which designed by Robert Bellamy. A surprise last stop, weather permitting: David Gibson’s garden. You have seen his photographs, now you will see his private refuge in the heart of Dallas. After the bus returns toRo2 at 2:30, you will have another chance to preview their exhibitions. Next door at The MAC, Rachel Rogerson has agreed to give us a private tour of their new location and preview their upcoming exhibition Mud Campaign, by H Schenck.

TICKETS

Tickets are $75.00 per person. Seating is limited to the first 25 responders. To purchase tickets visit www.etix.com. Guests are provided with bus transportation, lunch, and refreshments. The guided portion of this tour is approximately four hours long. For more information about the September 10th bus tour, please contact Laura Green at 972-239-2441 or Jordan Roth at 214-803-9575.
