Like the Futurists of the early 20th century, we live in a world immersed in technology, urban trappings, speed, information, connectivity and change.  For Baton Rouge, 2016 has proven to be a very difficult year. We have had shootings which have emphasized the racial tensions that mark out times. We have had record breaking floods that left people homeless or in tenuous situations, without their possessions or certainty of the future of their homes. On top of that, we are living through an election season that is causing tension in our town, state and country.

Artists through the ages have used their media to offer both veiled and overt social commentary. We are giving visual artists an opportunity to show how they are responding to the events of 2016. This is an opportunity to provide a forum for thought-provoking and insightful work.
