VAGF Monthly meeting Feb. 13: Color Composition – Annie Royer

newsletter01

Join VAGF members for the monthly meeting on Monday, February 13 from 7-9pm at Expedition Frisco (9073 Berkshire Dr. Frisco, TX 75033).

Come join us to hear about upcoming art events from Tammy Suh Meinershagen, Executive director of Frisco Arts. Followed by demonstration from Annie Royer on Color Composition.

A strong color composition is Annie Royer’s top priority in every project, whether a painting or an interior design project.  Through dialogue and demonstration, she’ll share some of the ways she arrives at a color composition that pleases her.  Because colorways are very personal, bring 5 or so of your favorite colors (tubes of paint, pieces of fabric, whatever is your medium of choice) with which to experiment.

We also will have a mini-critique. Bring a piece of artwork (framing not necessary) and it can even be work-in -progress for a friendly feedback.  We will draw for a prize at the meeting for participating Artists.

Come join in for a fun, creative night.

Members and visitors are welcome.

Artist Judy Mason at the VAST November 3rd Meeting

judy-mason-vast-nov-2016

You are invited to a presentation by Artist Judy Mason at the VAST November Meeting November 3rd, from 7 – 9 p.m., at the Patterson-Appleton Arts Center, 400 East Hickory St, Denton, TX.

Judy Mason’s Artist Statement: “It is my belief and experience that the most intriguing avenues of understanding are introduced by chance. There is an evolution of happenings meant to create something unique. As our artwork evolves, so does the individuality of the artist. Only when the artist decides to “rest” does his work become stale.

I find some repetition within my artwork to be fun, but too much of it quickly becomes predictable. That is where the danger lies. We, as artists, are performers and must constantly entertain ourselves and the audience.

Sharing that which is felt is an obligation, and hopefully, it can hold the attention of someone long enough to get that feeling transmitted. Then that work of art is considered successfully placed.”

Judy Mason’s artwork is shown in the Center for Contemporary Art in Abilene, Texas, and the Firehouse Art Gallery in Weatherford, Texas.

To find out more about Judy, see: www.judymasoneldridge.com

The presentation is free for VAST Members; $3 for guests. vastarts.org
