Patsy Lindamood Wildlife Art Exhibit at the West Irving Library

lindamood4

Irving Art Association is honored to present the Patsy Lindamood Wildlife Art Exhibit at the West Irving Library Dec. 4, 2016 through Jan. 8, 2017.The Library is located at 4444 W. Rochelle in Irving (near the intersection of Rochelle & Esters.)

Patsy is an IAA member and frequent winner in IAA’s Texas & Neighbors and Animal Art exhibits. The exhibit showcases her wildlife art but she also draws and paints domestic animals, landscape art, and portraits. Her latest series is on ranch and rodeo life.

Learning from from nationally and internationally recognized pastelists and wildlife artists, Patsy has emerged with a style uniquely her own, marked by strong, colorful, yet infinitely detailed compositions in a representational style.  She has become a nationally award winning artist in her own right.

Her work derives from research and observation of creatures in their environments, in the wild whenever possible. Trips to state and national parks have provided great adventure and abundant inspiration. Wildlife also regularly visit her property in Huntsville, and it is not unusual to pass deer or roadrunners on her weekday routes.

Working in pastel, graphite, colored pencil, and watercolor or watercolor pencil, Lindamood’s paintings are life-size, bold with color, rich with texture, and bursting with presence. She frequently paints on cradled artist boards, Pastelboard or Mylar.

For more about Patsy and her art, see her website at  http://www.lindamoodfineart.com

Colored Pencil Meeting at Collin College Oct. 11

CPSA DFW Logo color

Colored Pencil Meeting at Collin College October 11, 2014
We will have our monthly meeting at Collin College in Plano on October 11, 2014, Building I, Room 114, from 2 – 4 pm.  Business meeting first and then a mini-workshop with Roxanne Musick – Prismacolor Art Sticks and Multi Media.  You don’t have to be a member to come to the meeting. Anyone interested is welcome!

This event is for artists who like to try different approaches and haven’t had the nerve or the knowledge to know what else to use.  We will be using Canson Mi-Tientes paper, 19½ x 25 ½, Champagne #470 (bring with you). If you want to split the paper with someone else, you can, or you can use the whole sheet.

Preparation is: the paper will be dampened, crinkled and carefully straightened out and left to dry overnight for this mini-workshop.  There will be a hair dryer available if you haven’t prepared the paper in advance but it will save a lot of time if you bring your paper already prepared (from the night before).

We will use oil pastels, foil, Magic Metal paints and oxidizers, odorless mineral spirits, and, of course, the Prismacolor Sticks and pencils.  You don’t have to bring all of that – just your sheet of Canson Mi Tientes paper (pre-wetted, crinkled and straightened out), along with pencils and sticks if you have them.

We look forward to seeing you there!
The deadline for entry into the 2014 CPSA 215 Show has passed. The Dallas Chapter of the Colored Pencil Society of America 2014 Exhibit will be at the Eisemann Center for the Performing Arts in Richardson, TX November 5–December 14, 2014.
