Presentation by Artist Lisa Adams Reed at the VAST February Meeting

Lisa Adams Reed banner 100 dpi

You are invited to a Feb. 2nd presentation by painter Lisa Adams Reed. Reed lives in New Mexico and is represented by galleries in Dallas, Santa Fe, Farmington, NM, Crested Butte, CO., and Watkins Glenn, NY.

Lisa Adams Reed’s artist statement:
“I have very secretly seen myself as an artist since I was a small child. I always knew my creativity would dominate my life and in this final third I am all in! Although it’s been quite the leap to go from being an executive for a Fortune 200 company to the world of art, I have never once looked back.”

“I was blessed by a stroke that left me blind in one eye a few years ago. Funny how it made me see things differently and has made me have an even greater desire to paint the world from this unique perspective.”

“I discovered my favorite juicy medium when I first opened a jar of cold wax and mixed it with oil. It was like painting with yummy canned frosting! The many layers that I apply, then intuitively scrape away, always reveals beautiful surprises underneath. So much like life.”

“My paintings are SoulScapes. Since jumping into painting 100% in my 60s, I have been fortunate enough to be included and featured in many shows, and won more awards than I could have dreamed.”

To find out more about Lisa Adams Reed, see: http://lisaadamsreed.com/

When:  February 2nd, 2017, from 7 – 9 p.m.

Where:  Patterson-Appleton Arts Center
400 East Hickory St, Denton

The presentation is free for VAST Members; $3 for guests. http://vastarts.org

Teta Smith demo March 26 in Plano

PAAlogo

THE NEXT  PAA

MEMBERS MEETING IS:

Tuesday the 26th of MARCH 2013

7pm at the Plano Art Association
(Door open at 6:30pm)

We have a wonderful demo with teacher Teta Smith planned for you at this month’s Member Meeting. She’ll be showing us how to work with cold wax in our paintings.

Teta Smith, co-owner of Artists’ Showplace gallery paints luminescent paintings in watermedia and collage.

In Kindergarten, she was asked to bring one of her father’s old shirts in order to paint the next day.

“I don’t know what was more exciting – the bright colors of paint, or getting to wear my Daddy’s old white shirt. Whatever it was, I was hooked. I still wear one of his shirts whenever I paint.”

Fortunate to have an artistically talented mother, Teta has vivid childhood memories of creating all kinds of things with her. Together with her grandmother, who lived with them, she had plenty of encouragement for her blossoming creativity.

Teta also teaches Beginning Realistic and Beginning Abstract Watermedia painting classes. A seasoned teacher, she holds an undergraduate degree in Education and a Masters degree in Counseling, which is a terrific combination for teaching the art of painting to beginners.
