Giddens Gallery call for artists

Giddens Gallery is continuously reviewing portfolios and interviewing artists interested in joining the Gallery in marketing their art.

Contact the Gallery, 817-488-8600 or cheriegiddens@juno.com, for an appointment/interview.

Resident Artists Testimonies

“My experience with Giddens Gallery has been most rewarding.  Cherie and John have been warm and hospitable “hosts”.  They are both very easy to work with and amenable to suggestions.  The other artists in the gallery are some of the greatest people I have been around.  They bring an impressive mix of styles and media to our clients.  From my experience it is truly a first class operation without being elitist.”
Jerome Weilmuenster

“Giddens Gallery of Fine Art has widened my client base this past year.  With their interactive monthly gallery receptions, clients are invited to enjoy a wide variety of fine art in beautiful surroundings while noshing and sipping. As an artist, Cherie Giddens is an enthusiastic proprietor for those new to collecting as well as the more experienced. Both Cherie and John are involved with the city, art community and always reaching out to a broader audience both electronically and face-to-face. This has been my favorite and most profitable gallery association thus far.”
Rosemary Riddle-Achelpohl

“As a professional artist, I have found that Giddens Gallery has offered an excellent type of venue. The location is excellent, the gallery is beautiful, and the owners are gems.  I have the upmost confidence in their integrity and never worry about damage or loss of my paintings, delinquent or incorrect payment of sales.  Honesty, integrity and business principles reign at Giddens Gallery. It is these values that brought success to my art career and it is an honor to be associated with such an upstanding gallery with the same values.”

JuxtaPositions call for artists

JuxtaPositions

Deadline: May 10, 2018 Fee (USD): $40.00

The Painting Center, an artist-run gallery in Chelsea, announces a call for entries for its juried summer exhibition “JuxtaPositions”. We invite artists of all stripes to submit work that excites by forging new connections, and surprises by discovering unexpected juxtapositions.

Creativity isn’t only about making entirely new things out of whole cloth. The creative process can involve seeing old things in new contexts; joining things that previously seemed completely unrelated; or turning conventions, tropes and ideas upside down and inside out. Sometimes, these juxtapositions are humorous; sometimes, they are enigmatic, or striking; sometimes, they are shocking. High and low, serious and funny, real and fake, observed and invented, political and personal…these are all choices an artist can make in his or her work…but they aren’t necessarily mutually exclusive.

In a culture that is stuffed full of imagery, icons, argument, products, brands and just plain junk, can we invent something new by mining, reframing, re-contextualizing, and re-conceiving some of the ideas and objects that make up the cultural moment in which we live?

“JuxtaPositions” is open to all media. http://www.chicagoartistsresource.org/calls-for-artists/juxtapositions

Exhibition Dates: June 19 – July 14, 2018 – Deadline for Submission: May 10, 2018 – Notification Date: May 18, 2018 – Artwork Shipping/Delivery Dates: June 12 – June 16, 2018 – Opening Reception: Thursday, June 21, 6 – 8 pm – Application Fee: $40 for 1 to 5 images – Size Limitation: Artwork that exceeds 36″ in any dimension will not be considered. – Image Requirements: JPEGs must be 72 dpi. They should be at least 1600 pixels in any direction. Maximum file size for any individual image is 5 MB.
