The “Exploring the Natural World in Water Media” Exhibit in the main gallery of the Lost Pines Art Center, 1204 Chestnut St., in Bastrop,from July 25 through Sept. 5. 45 juried paintings presented by Waterloo Watercolor Group.

Reception will be Sat., July 29 from 4-7pm.

BASTROP 2017 2-Dimensional Art Project call for artists


The 2017 Bastrop 2-Dimensionbal Art Project (“2-D Art”) is an annual program of the Bastrop Art in Public Places Board and the City of Bastrop. The 2017 2-D Art is a new addition adopted to adorn the City of Bastrop’s public buildings with original art.

The 2-D Art call is open in regards to theme and can be in any medium including but not limited to: painting, drawing, mixed media, collage, photography, fiber art, etc. Artist’s produced wood block, lithograph, and serigraph are acceptable. No reproductions of original art will be accepted. The framed size must be between 576 sq. inches and 2160 sq. inches. Please note that larger exhibit spaces are more abundant than the smaller spaces at this time. The call is open to all artists without geographic distinctions or restrictions.

2016 Lost Pines Art Conference coming Sept. 16 & 17

Lost Pines Art League is pleased to announce our second annual 2016 Lost Pines Art Conference (2015 Lost Pines Regional Arts Conference-LPRAC) to be held September 16-17 in Bastrop Texas.

The Art Conference is for creatives who wish to immerse themselves in inspiration, networking, experimentation, and discovery.  This two-day conference is hosted by the Lost Pines Art League.

To further fire up that imagination, the venues are in historic downtown Bastrop.  Nestled on the banks of the Colorado River in the heart of the Lost Pines region, the Bastrop historic district offers a selection of galleries, shops, restaurants, and inns.  Nearby neighborhoods contain over 100 historic homes, many beautifully restored.  A Texas Main Street city since 2007, Bastrop was also named a Distinctive Destination in 2010 by the National Trust for Historic Preservation in recognition of the City’s work to preserve its historic character.
