After Dark 6 is a show celebrating darkness and the varied reactions emblematic to this subject matter…nighttime, dark humor, dark fantasies, dark matter, etc. Greg Moon Art of Taos hosts this national show with guest jurors Matt Kennedy (La Luz de Jesus Gallery, Los Angeles) and Stuart Ashman (Center for Contemporary Arts, Santa Fe). The show will run June 24th – July 15th with an opening reception on the 24th. Entries are being accepted in painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, sculpture, mixed media, fiber arts, glass, digital printed media, and assemblage. Entry deadline is midnight April 27th.

The San Antonio Tricentennial, through the City of San Antonio’s Department of Arts & Culture, seeks proposals from community artists and art agencies for pop-up art projects to occur during 2018, the year of the city’s 300th anniversary. The intent of the 300 TriArt Program is to inspire a diverse range of art throughout San Antonio and Bexar County that reflects local culture and history. Through these temporary and permanent projects, locals and visitors alike will experience a mixture of art in a variety of expressions that reflects the vibrant pulse of the community. “The 300 TriArt Program will produce a diversity of art in our community that is accessible and open to the public,” said Faith Radle of Three Chord Media and member of the Tricentennial Commission. “We encourage both seasoned and emerging artists to embrace the tricentennial anniversary and create expressive works that showcase the culture, history, and unique beauty of San Antonio and Bexar County.” All art types (visual, literary, performance, filmmaking, etc.) and media will be considered for the program, and each project should be site-specific for a location open to the community. Arts partners are encouraged to implement their projects in non-traditional art venues to highlight unique and creative spaces in San Antonio. The projects that are ultimately selected will be reflective of the city and county’s rich heritage, taking into account our 300 years of history, and encouraging active community participation. The 300 TriArt Program will incite creative passion in the community and create a cultural legacy that commemorates the tricentennial anniversary. Individual awards granted through the 300 TriArt Program range from $1,000 to $20,000, with a total of $300,000 available to support local artistic talent. Proposal submissions are due on Friday, April 14, 2017 by 10 a.m. CST. Name of Call: Luminaria 2017, Contemporary Arts Festival, San Antonio, TX

San Antonio’s multi-arts festival is scheduling programming from November 9th-11th, with the epic night festival on Friday, November 10, 2017. Luminaria invites you, your gallery, your collective, or other creative organization to submit work for this highly competitive showcase. Submit your proposal by May 10th to be part of this edgy celebration of contemporary arts in downtown San Antonio, Texas.

Project Proposals will be evaluated on their overall professionalism, creativity, originality, and innovation. There is only one application form to submit, whether your work is visual, performance, literary, musical, environmental, fashion, comedy, film, dance or a combination of artistic genres. Cross-discipline works are encouraged. All artists are required to be present at the festival and open to interacting with the public.

All works must be created specifically for Luminaria, unless Luminaria is also its Texas or US premiere. Art work sales are not permitted at the festival.

Ruidoso Art Festival 2017

The Ruidoso Art Festival is in its 46th year and is a perfect reason in the perfect season for artists, art lovers and collectors to escape to the mountains!  This event draws at least 5,000 people over the 3 day period and is held the fourth weekend of July each year. The Odessa Council for the Arts & Humanities (OCA&H) invites professional artists or artist teams to submit qualifications to design and fabricate a significant piece to enhance the structure on the corner of 8th street and Maple avenue, know colloquially as the ‘Cloth World Sign.’ This piece will be an addition to the City of Odessa’s public art collection.

University Health System is pleased to announce a call for artists to be considered for inclusion in our new clinic, The Dr. Robert L. M. Hilliard Center. Dr. Hilliard, who passed away in 2014, had deep and profound ties to San Antonio’s East Side community where he practiced throughout his life — delivering more than 14,000 babies. He also had deep ties with University Health System and the San Antonio Housing Authority, the two organizations that came together to build this state-of-the-art medical facility on the city’s East Side.

Artists in this call are being considered to create a hanging or wall mural art installation for a large two story atrium lobby that will greet patients and the public in the new space. The 12,000 square foot building will have general health care outpatient services, with focus on pediatric and women’s health services.

Artists are asked to create a welcoming, colorful, engaging art work that related to any of the following: human form, nature, color, cultural diversity, abstract shapes, and history. The goal within our University Health System, “Salud-Arte: Art of Healing” program is to create a peaceful, positive distraction environment for patients and their families.

Installation and completion is scheduled for the week of November 13, 2017.

Plein Air Painters of New Mexico (PAPNM) will host the Fourth Annual Santa Fe Plein Air Festival in the Land of Enchantment. Fifty (50) artists will be selected to participate in a seven day event from Friday, June 3 through Friday, June 10, around Santa Fe and Northern New Mexico (within a defined zone). InArt Gallery will display the participants’ best two works along with special award winners. The show will hang through July 4. Daily guided paintouts will be provided for those who want to paint in a group setting. Events will include a Kick Off Fiesta, an Enchanted Skies Award Event, Opening Reception and Awards Ceremony.

Over $17,000 in awards available. Participants will need to become PAPNM members to participate.

Frank LaLumia will be the Judge of Awards and will offer a four-day workshop, “Two Big Concepts” after the paintout – June 10-13 (separate registration fee applies).

Calling all Texas artists! Want to see your artwork featured on a bottle of wine? Enter the 2016 Messina Hof Wine Label Competition! The winning piece will be proudly displayed on a special run of Messina Hof wine bottles, plus cash prizes for the top three artists. This competition is open to all artists over the age of 21 residing in Texas. Entries may be any 2D medium including but not limited to: watercolor, oil, pastel, pencil, acrylic, collage, multimedia, and digital art.

The theme of the 2016 competition is “Renaissance”. The European Renaissance occurred between the 14th and 17th century, during which advances in art and science flourished – both of which happen to be necessities for winemaking!

The top finalist entries will be on display at the spring Wine & Roses Festival at Messina Hof, and festival attendees will have the opportunity to view and vote on their favorite piece. Top finalist artists will also be invited to the Wine & Roses VIP reception, and have the option to host a booth at the festival to display and sell their work, free of charge.

The PASEO is a festival dedicated to bringing the art of installation, performance and projection to the streets of Taos, New Mexico, engaging the community in the art making process. This two-day outdoor event, set in the high desert of Taos, New Mexico, is in its third year, and scheduled for Friday and Saturday evening, September 23rd and 24th, 2016.

The PASEO is seeking work that is immersive, participatory, and/or will make a dynamic impact within the Taos Historic District during this evening festival, 5pm-10pm. PASEO 2015 brought 10,000 people to the streets of Taos to experience this annual celebration of the Taos Arts Festival. Artists are also invited to present at our daytime forums, lectures and learning labs (10am – 5pm).

As part of the application process new media artists are invited to submit proposals for STEMarts LAB @ The PASEO, an innovative educational program that allows schools, youth and their families to become part of the STEM-art making process at The PASEO. The artists are asked to share their process of art making with the students who then perform/install at the event.

This is a juried and invited event with an entry fee. With this call, artists have the opportunity not only to be invited to present atPASEO 2016, but become eligible for invitation to opportunities for additional year-round events and collaborations.

The Louisiana Percent for Art Program is seeking artists or artist teams to design and implement a site-specific, large-scale sculpture of original design for the exterior of the Lanny D. Ledet Culinary Building at on the Nicholls State University campus in Thibodaux, Louisiana. The artwork will be subject to direct sunlight and must be unique, permanent, discourage vandalism, and require very minimal long-term maintenance. Finalists are required to attend 2 meetings, in person, at the site in Thibodaux, Louisiana.

The project budget (inclusive of all expenses) is $70,000. The call closes March 15, 2016. This is an open call, and all eligible artists (local, national and international) are welcome to apply. This is a call for submission of samples of previous work and qualifications only.
