Allen Arts Festival 2017 – Calling All Artists

Allen Arts Festival 2017 will be held during the Mother’s Day weekend, May 12-17 at Watters Creek, a popular shopping and dining destination in Allen, just north of Dallas. About 100 juried artists, local and regional, representing art in 14 media categories will have their booths lined up along the streets in front of retail stores in the beautiful 52 acres of mixed used development with walkable spaces and kids play area featuring a running creek and public art. Live music, children’s art activities, food trucks and much more is offered throughout the weekend.

Junebug Summer Fair entry deadline June 1

Juried art show seeking artists and craftsmen to display and sell their work. This show will take place during the Junebug Summer Fair. It’s a one day show on June 18, 2016 that runs from 11am to 11pm. We are offering spaces to artists for $1, in homage to the man who re-ignighted our town, Ben Wheeler. He only charged $1 to any artist or craftsman who wanted to open up a shop in our town when he first started rebuilding it. So we are continuing the tradition for booth spaces to be only $1. However to hold a space you must write a check to us for $25 as a deposit. That original check WILL BE RETURNED TO YOU so long as you show up the day of the event, or if the event is cancelled due to bad weather.

 

We will not take a commission, what you sell is yours to keep. Please understand that space is limited so please enter soon, as we will fill quickly!

Deadline for Entries is June 1st, and if you qualify, the acceptance will go out within a day or two until we are at capacity so long as you meet our criterea and level of quality.

Apply if you: Paint, Sculpt, Make JEWELRY, Create Recycled Goods, Woodworking, Blown Glass, Pottery, Handmade Musical Instruments, etc…

The Mission of Cowboy True is to educate the region about the honor, art, and beauty of the cowboy’s daily life.

Cowboy True is a celebration to honor working cowboys and the artwork that comes from their daily lives. During the weekend of  April 1-2, 2016, juried cowboy artists from around the nation will be featured at the J.S. Bridwell Ag Center to display their unique works derived from cowboy life. Categories include: bits, spurs, buckles, jewelry, gun/knife engraving, saddles, boots, trappings/gear, photography, paintings, drawings, sculptures, carving, cowboy cartoons, and pottery. Events for Cowboy True include Friday night artists reception and opening, Saturday daytime activities (and exhibit open to the public) and Saturday night dinner, live auction, and entertainment. All proceeds go to The Forum to assist with programming and mission fulfillment.

Artist Eligibility: 
1)      Juried exhibit:  Please submit a photograph of yourself, the application, and photographs of your cowboy art or gear to be considered for inclusion in the juried exhibit.  Send high-resolution photographs to cowboytrue@theforumwf.org by Friday, January 22, 2016.  Artists who are selected for the exhibit will have a 10 x 10 space to display and sell their pieces.  Upon selection for the exhibit, the artist will be invoiced $105.00 for the display space (jurying fees are non-refundable); included with each space are two tickets to all events, the judging fee for two pieces of art, and inclusion in the event catalogue.  Two pieces of art within the exhibit space may be designated to be entered into the judged art show.  Judging will be done by actual working cowboys.  The fee for the space must be paid by March 6, 2016.  Additional pieces may be submitted for judging at a fee of $30 each; however these pieces must be submitted in a different art category.  Three different artists must be registered in each category for it to be judged.  Cowboy True committee members may not enter pieces to be judged.

2)      Art Auction:  This is a juried auction.  Artists are invited to submit one piece of art to be considered for auction at the Saturday evening event.  On Friday afternoon the guest curators will select approximately 20 from among the submissions which will then be presented at auction.  Artist receives 75% of the auction price of the piece; 25% goes to fund the Cowboy True Exhibit and Art Show.  The Cowboy True curators will set the final reserve price after consultation with the artist.

Harvest Moon Festival of the Arts Oct. 17 & 18 – call for artists

For almost 40 years, the Historic Granbury Merchants Association (HGMA) has celebrated the fall, adorned the famous courthouse square, and invited the entire Dallas/Fort Worth area to the Harvest Moon Festival of the Arts. In 2014, the HGMA, in conjunction with the City of Granbury and the Granbury Arts Alliance, kicked off the event in “BIG” fashion with the first-ever Balloons in Granbury (BIG) event. Balloons launched just before dawn and glowed at dusk. In between, visitors enjoyed a high-caliber art festival against the backdrop of Texas’ most historic courthouse square. Plans are underway to make this an ongoing feature each year.Date: 10/17/15-10/18/15

Last year’s Art & Wine Walk at the Village Shops was a big success and the event will be returning this year.

Bright Realty, sponsor of the event, is seeking local artists interested in showcasing and selling their art. The event is open to all varieties of art and artists: painters, photographers, sculptors, soap makers, jewelry makers, etc.

The three-hour event will take place in September. In addition to art and entertainment, wine-tasting will be offered by several Village Shops tenants.

Lake Highlands call for artists

Lake Highlands Public Improvement District is hosting the Lake Highlands Art and Play Festival Memorial Day, May 25th 9:00 am -3:00 pm at Lake Highlands Town Center Watercrest Park (Walnut Hill and Skillman).  We still have a few spots open for local artists – there is no cost for the tent, table and two chairs – as well as lunch being provided.  The morning begins with a 5k benefitting Camp Sweeney – a camp for kids with Type 1 diabetes and continues with activities for kids as well as food trucks and of course – our local artists, crafters and vendors. You are invited to submit your application to be an exhibitor in the 6th Annual Downtown Street and Art Fair. The core of the day is the exhibition and sale of original art. To add to the festivities and increase the audience, there are performances by dance, theatre, and music groups from the local community and student organizations. Admission is free to the public.

Also, we actively market the event to over 50,000 Texas A&M students to encourage attendance during Parent’s Weekend. Parent’s Weekend draws in thousands of visiting parents each semester. Parents’ Weekend is a tradition that has existed at Texas A&M University since 1919 and the art fair is a recognized event of the weekend.

Garden & Artisan Showcase call for artists

green veggie platterGet involved and participate in the annual Garden & Artisan Showcase event hosted by Brookhaven Country Club on April 2nd– 4th 2015. This is a great opportunity to bring your family, friends and associates together to support our local charity. Established by PGA TOUR Professionals Scott Verplank and Andrew Magee, this non-profit social event has helped thousands of less fortunate children, their families and senior citizens receive counseling and dental care. Over the last twenty plus years, the golf tournament has raised over $1,000,000.00 and the Charity Plant Sale has raised over $50,000 in the past five years. It is through your participation that we will be able to achieve our goals and help fund services so desperately needed.  The Magee-Verplank & Friends Charity Event assists the uninsured and senior citizens of the Farmers Branch and Carrollton community.

This year we are looking for local artisans to showcase their art on Saturday April 4th  2015. Please provide us with images or description of your art and how it relates to garden life no later than March 15th. Upon acceptance, your booth fee of $75.00 will include a 10×10 space, one 6’ or 8’ covered banquet table, two chairs and 1 boxed lunch (additional lunch can be provided upon request). You may bring you own 10×10 tent or smaller. If you require any electrical, please contact us with details and note that an additional fee may be added. Hours of the event will be 9:00 am to 6:00 pm.  Set up starts at 7:30 am and take down will begin at 6:00 pm.

Upon acceptance, checks are payable to Magee-Verplank Endowment Fund, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Payment will be due by March 31st. Mail to P.O. Box 810831, Farmers Branch, TX 75234 or drop off at the Club and leave at front desk for Monty Worden.

Seeking arts and craft vendors for Irving special events

Applications for vendors to sell crafts such as clothing, jewelry, decor, and candles at the 2015 citywide special events are now available. A craft marketplace will be included in the Taste of Irving in May and the Irving Main Street Event in September. Booth spaces include tent, table, chairs and access to electricity.
