New Emerging Artist Award from Mercedes-Benz Financial for SMU and TCU Students

Mercedes-Benz Financial Services announced on October 19 the Emerging Artist Award in Fort Worth for art students and graduates of Southern Methodist University (SMU) and Texas Christian University (TCU). $10,000 in other awards were also revealed during the eighth annual exhibition “Experiencing Perspectives” at the MBFS regional corporate offices in Fort Worth.

Brookhaven College Student Art Sale Dec. 3&4

SAM_1374Something fabulous is going on at Brookhaven College!

The energy is palpable – the music is blasting in the sculpture courtyard while sparks fly from metal, pottery wheels whirl in clay,

waxes are finely carved and cast in jewelry, blocks are inked in printmaking, and students stand for hours before their easels,

absorbed with color, light and shadow in drawing and painting studios.

 

The Art Kids are crazybusy gearing up for their Holiday Student Art Sale and Fundraiser! 

And when I say “Kids”, I mean students ranging in age from 17 to 75!

 

The Particulars:

When: December 3 & 4, Wed and & Thurs, 9am-6pm both days

Where: Lobby of “S” building (Student Services building), Brookhaven College campus

3939 Valley View Lane, Farmers Branch ,Texas.

Featuring: handmade jewelry, potter’s wheel thrown and handbuilt ceramics, printmaking, photography, painting, drawing and sculpture.

* Art Student, Junsouk Issac Chun, will be doing on-the-spot caricatures for shoppers to purchase.

How shoppers can pay: cash or check.

Free admission with plenty of free parking

Everything is hand made by Brookhaven art students in their studio classes.

This is a sale of art and fine craft by budding artists passionate about their work, developing their own voice,

as well as experienced artists who have taken classes for years striving to refine their work.


This is an excellent opportunity for the public to buy exceptional and unusual handmade fine craft and art at very reasonable prices!

Who The Fundraiser Benefits:

Brookhaven’s Student Art Club – 20% of sales goes to scholarships, and to bring artists to campus for workshops/demos.

The Students’s Goal:

To have their work shown to the public, to earn monies for next semester’s class and art supplies

(canvas, stretchers, paint, metal- materials for class are expensive).

 

So Don’t Be Tardy For The Party!

The tables will be piled high with treasures.

Have an Individualist to buy a gift for? Love to wear or decorate your home with unique, beautiful or funky finds?

I’ll be there with you, lining up, eagerly waiting for the doors to open!
