A Creative Art STUDIO First Friday Denton April 4

First Friday Denton April 4, 2014 small
Join us for First Friday Denton at A Creative Art STUDIO Friday, April 4, 2014 for music, art and fun.  This month our music is provided by Oui Bis, a group of local musicians that feature a variety of styles of music including the American Old Time tradition as well as Irish, Scottish and English folk dance music. Their performance will include a mix of Old Standards (that is to say jazz from the early to mid 20th century), Latin American jazz tunes of various sorts, Balkan and Slavic tunes and a handful of original tunes that might lean heavily on all of the above.  Members of the group include Steve Prouty, Leon Peek, George Merritt, Maristella Feustle, and Steve Horn.

This First Friday the gallery show features the work of artist and Denton resident, Aurora Cabrera.  Aurora combines her love for watercolor with the images and colors of her native Mexico.   Art Demonstrations and art activities will also be a part of the First Friday Festivities.  Our “Dollar a minute” portrait artist, Bailey Parrish will be on hand to sketch your portrait, Tina Alvarez and Crystal Nelson will be doing art projects and there will be a community art project for all to work on.  A Creative Art STUDIO and Gallery is located at 227 West Oak Street just off the historic square in Denton, Texas.  Grab a friend and come join the festivities in Denton, Texas. First Friday Denton at A Creative Art STUDIO

firstfridaydenton

Join us for First Friday Denton at A Creative Art STUDIO on October 4, from 7 – 10 pm. This month for our special evening of music and art we welcome back the Dana Isaac Trio as well as the Link Chalon Orchestra. Starting our musical evening will be the sultry Jazz voice of Dana Isaac, who attended the University of North Texas where she studied both Jazz music and painting and drawing. She performs with her husband Deke Isaac (bass) and friend, Rick Johnson (keyboards), who are also former Jazz students of UNT. Starting at 8:30 the Link Chalon Orchestra takes stage and brings its own brand of indie/folk.

Our Featured Artist of the month is photographer and writer, Ellen Ritscher Sackett. Ellen began documenting her life through the camera lens with an iPhone, but it was during her year as a feature writer for the Denton Record-Chronicle that she became serious about honing her craft as a photographer. She has been published as both photographer and writer in the Dallas Morning News, for which she is a special contributor and a member of the Guide arts and entertainment magazine team.

This month the studio adds the opportunity for visitors to watch or purchase a portrait drawn by artist Bailey Parrish. Art demonstrations are always a part of the studio’s first Friday as well as a community art project for all to participate in it’s creations. Day of the Dead workshops will be offered during the month of October and will a focus of the community art project and one of the artist demonstrations. Grab a friend and come join the fun!
