Small works by local artists will be for sale to the public for a special one day event on the Saturday following Thanksgiving, November 26 from 10AM to 4PM. Behind every small business there’s a story worth knowing. Small Business plays a big role in making our community great!

Artist’s Talk by Morgan Chivers
November 11, 2016, 5:30 – 6:30 pm
Morgan Chivers graduated from San Jose State University in 2011 after spending a full decade earning four simultaneously conferred degrees with five associated minors: BA in History, BA in Global Studies, BFA in Photography, and BFA in Spatial Arts, with minors in Anthropology, Music, Religious Studies, German, and Environmental Studies.  His approach to the world is inherently cross-disciplinary; the lusts for knowledge and context drive his life.
 
Juror’s Talk: The Thing Lyric: Collaboration, Encounter, and the New Poetics of Bookworks
November 12, 2016, time TBA
Drawing on recent critical theories that foreground the vibrancy of things, Dr. Anne Keefe will introduce a theory of “thing lyric” to investigate how the artist’s book itself becomes an agent in the collaborative process of reading.
 
Hawaiian Hula Dance Workshop
October 6-November 14, 2016

Experience the beautiful culture of Hawaii through dance, music, stories and language.  Each class will have segments of basic hula hand and feet movements, history, storytelling, music, learning about traditional hula instruments, and basic Hawaiian language as it relates to hula dance.  You will learn a beautiful hula about a well-known Hawaiian Goddess, and have the opportunity to perform your hula at the Workshop showcase on November 17.

Small fine art and craft works by local artisans. Free and open to the public.

The Fort Worth Community Art Center announces an open call for entries: 2016 9 x 12 Works on PaperShow December 2-27, 2016.  Artworks on or of paper or paper products may be any size, but MUST fit in a 9 x 12 envelope; folded, 3D or multi-part OK.  Unmatted, unframed photography, drawing, painting, printmaking, collage, mixed media, cast or folded paper or digital prints OK (other materials attached-OK). Original artworks only; no reproductions.  Put artist’s name, address, title & date of work and medium on back. No entry form. Open to all artists – no age or geographical restrictions. All artwork is shown – no jury. Entry fee is $5 US/piece; 6 entries max.  Postmark deadline November 15, 2016.  All artwork for sale for $100 US; artist gets 75%.  Unsold works with SASE will be mailed by Jan 31. Life Drawing with Carol Ivey at the Arts Center
Saturday mornings, October 15 – November 19, 2016
9:30 am – 12:30 pm

6 sessions
$225 model fee included
This class is aimed at the beginning and intermediate level. Emphasis will be on developing and engaging visual perception to see the human form in terms of unique configuration. Participants learn and practice exercises in gesture, contour, shape, proportion, value, and expression. Some structure and anatomy
will be presented. Poses vary in length from the quick study to the more finished drawing. All work is done from the live unclothed model. To register contact: Carol Ivey 817-774-6048

Applications for the 2014 Jingle Bash open August 17. Produced by Etsy Dallas, Jingle Bash happens every November in Dallas. This year’s will be November 15th at the South Side Events Center, 1135 S. Lamar.

The 5th Annual Jingle Bash, is planned to be our biggest, bestest show yet! We’re working hard to make this the best handmade shopping experience in Texas.
