Dallas Arboretum Presents Artscape Fine Art and Craft Show on April 28 and 29

From April 28 to 29, the Dallas Arboretum hosts Artscape, a juried fine art and fine craft show and sale, that brings together nearly 100 outstanding artists from around the country. A special members preview will be held on April 27 before it opens to the public April 28 and 29. The blue ribbon jury panel, lead by art curator, Patricia Meadows, was impressed by the quality of the applications and expect Artscape to be one of the most prestigious and successful outdoor art shows this spring.

Artscape Chair Kaki Hopkins said, “Set amidst an explosion of spring color, Artscape is the perfect place to spend the weekend strolling through the gardens and shopping for artwork from these artists who are among the best in their fields. It is a fun and enriching time to be in Dallas for the whole family!”

The show features a variety of mediums including painting, sculpture, 2-D and 3-D mixed media, photography, jewelry, glass, digital art, ceramics and more. The layout for the art fair is architect-designed for maximum visibility of artists and audience flow. Named by Architectural Digest as one of the “15 Most Breathtaking Botanical Gardens to Visit This Season,” the Arboretum is a perfect complement to the beautiful artwork selected for the show.

Delight in the joy of Artscape with something for all the senses:

  • Close to 100 professional artists showcasing their exceptional art in Pecan Grove;
  • Galleries at DeGolyer with top galleries exhibiting and selling art with 20% of sales benefiting the Arboretum;
  • A University Zone with regional university students and faculty showing and selling their art;
  • Art demonstrations by Dallas County Community College District students and faculty;
  • Live musical entertainment on stage with radio and TV personalities serving as emcees;
  • Food concessions, packaged treats, craft beer and winetastings;
  • A Children’s Art Escape, featuring hands-on art activities for the young to make and take, overseen by retired DISD art teachers;
  • Prize drawings on the hour every hour.

In addition to Artscape, guests will be able to enjoy the newest summer exhibit, Wind Sculptures in Motion: The Kinetic Art of Lyman Whitaker, on display through July 31, presented by Reliant. Each piece of Whitaker’s artwork is organic in nature and responds to the changing currents of the wind, which provides each sculpture’s movement. The sculptures range in height from 5 to 27 feet, and 122 sculptures will be arranged artfully in groupings throughout the garden for viewing, and will be available to purchase.

Artscape admission is free for paid garden guests.

And when I say “Kids,” I mean students aged from 17-75!
Something fabulous is going on at Brookhaven College! The energy is palpable- the music is blasting in the sculpture courtyard while sparks fly from metal,
pottery wheels whirl in Clay, waxes are finely carved and cast in Jewelry, blocks are inked in Printmaking, and students stand for hours before their easels,
absorbed with color, light and shadow in Drawing and Painting.The Particulars:
Student Art Sale and Fundraiser, hosted by the Art Club of Brookhaven College
When: Thursday November 30, 9am-6pm.

Where: On the campus of Brookhaven College, in the lobby of “S” building (Student Services building)
Featuring: handmade jewelry, ceramics, printmaking, photography,drawings, painting
How shoppers can pay: cash or check.
Free admission and plenty of free parking.

Why You (and everybody else) Should Shop At Our Sale:
This isn’t the typical week-end craft sale/carnival being held by every church and elementary school this time of year-
“We ain’t stringin’ beads”- as one longtime metalsmith student told me. This is a sale of art and fine craft by budding artists passionate
about their work, developing their own voice, as well as experienced artists who have taken classes for years striving to refine their work.

This is an excellent opportunity for the public to buy exceptional and unusual handmade fine craft and art at very reasonable prices!

Who The Fundraiser Benefits:
Brookhaven’s Student Art Club- 20% of sales goes to scholarships, and to bring artists to campus for workshops/demos.
.
So Don’t Be Tardy For This Party!
The tables will be piled high with treasure. Have An Individualist to buy a gift for? Love to wear handmade jewelry or decorate your home with unique, beautiful or funky finds? Want to experience cutting-edge creativity?
I’ll be there with you, lining up, waiting for the doors to open!

Brookhaven College Student Art Sale & Fundraiser Dec 7

goblets

The Art Kids at Brookhaven College Are Crazy/Busy Gearing Up For Their ONLY Student Art Sale and Fundraiser Of The Year!

And when I say “Kids,” I mean students aged from 17-75!
Something fabulous is going on at Brookhaven College! The energy is palpable- the music is blasting in the sculpture courtyard while sparks fly from metal,
pottery wheels whirl in Clay, waxes are finely carved and cast in Jewelry, blocks are inked in Printmaking, and students stand for hours before their easels,
absorbed with color, light and shadow in Drawing and Painting.

The Particulars:
Student Art Sale and Fundraiser, hosted by the Art Club of Brookhaven College
When: Wednesday December 7, 9am-6pm.
utopia2bowl

This is an excellent opportunity for the public to buy exceptional and unusual handmade fine craft and art at very reasonable prices!
utopibowl3
Who The Fundraiser Benefits:
Brookhaven’s Student Art Club- 20% of sales goes to scholarships, and to bring artists to campus for workshops/demos.
.
So Don’t Be Tardy For This Party!
The tables will be piled high with treasure. Have An Individualist to buy a gift for? Love to wear handmade jewelry or decorate your home with unique, beautiful or funky finds? Want to experience cutting-edge creativity?
I’ll be there with you, lining up, waiting for the doors to open!

Relocation Sale & Coloring Party at Art Is Life Studio Nov. 19

14980670_1795529420724519_3293159634736964269_n

Hey, this is Jenice. Art Is Life Studio is moving to Yeager Properties of Plano next month and I am having a sale and coloring party from 5-10 p.m. November 19 as a send off. Of course this is very bittersweet. The new co-working location has a lot of possibilities. But this location I have been in for almost 2 years has been a haven. I will still host and co-host events as well as pop-up art openings in this new space. I am really going to miss my Richardson location but see so much potential for the future at Yeager.

I will have art, some furniture and other items for sale. There will be plenty to color and we will have snacks. Please bring cash, if you can. I accept credit cards but will charge for the nominal fee I have to pay to use Square services. I really hope to see you, as this is a come-and-go event. If I tear up, I’m fine. I’m fine!

Donations and kind words for this move are accepted.

Where: Art Is Life Studio 1200 E Collins Blvd Ste 106, Richardson, Texas 75081

When: November 19, 2016 5pm – 10pm

Art Is Life Studio Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/artislifestudio/

Facebook Event Page: https://www.facebook.com/events/1768260673424401/

THE OTHER STUFF IF YOU WANT TO READ:

You may wonder WHY PLANO? Well some folks were wondering WHY RICHARDSON, too. We live in North Garland, which isn’t far from either location and easily accessed for us. Contrary to what some may believe, I’ve had a lot of support from Plano-area folks and the Plano Chamber of Commerce has been a great part of that. I do recognize and appreciate the people from all over the Metroplex that have made the studio stay alive. There are art communities away from Dallas proper, even though we know Dallas is a huge, vibrant art city
