Art Exhibit: Fresh Paint | Hailey Herrera

Screen Shot 2017-02-16 at 12.33.00 PM

Inspired by the Japanese aesthetic of Wabi-Sabi, in this exhibit of abstract watermedia paintings Hailey Herrera integrates freeform lines and shapes; finding her inspiration from nature and her surroundings. Unless she has a specific theme in mind, she begins with some calligraphic lines without a preconceived idea of result. In the process of interplaying lines and shapes spontaneously, an idea emerges and the painting reveals something new to which her intuition and emotion responds. This spontaneous decision process leads to a fascinating and unconventional result.

The work displayed at Elm Street Studio is an ongoing study of experimentation in watermedia abstract painting.  Please join us at Elm Street Studio in Keller, TX for a complimentary reception and meet the artist on Friday, March 24 from 6 to 8 pm. For more information and to see images of Herrera’s work, please visit www.ElmStreetStudioKeller.com. Fresh Paint: Watermedia Abstracts by Hailey Herrera will be on display through April 27, 2017.

JD Miller: Luminous Levitation

luminouslevitation2

Samuel Lynne Galleries is pleased to announce the opening reception of artist JD Miller’s exhibition Luminous Levitation on November 22, 2014 from 5 – 8 pm. Artist will be in attendance at the opening reception.

This exhibit will debut Miller’s newest multimedia sculptures, created with acrylic, plexiglass, wood and light. Miller manipulates his acrylic forms to make them appear to float in three-dimensional space as light continually scrolls through the entire color spectrum. Designed as a holographic experience, Miller’s sculptures offer varying vantage points, ranging from iridescent floating organic forms of light to the dazzling reflective illuminations reminiscent of tropical fish and coral.Luminous Levitation draws inspiration from Miller’s extensive travels to both the Atlantic and Pacific coastlines. Luminous Levitation will be on exhibit through January 17, 2014.

Creating images, which extend into the space around them and meet us in our realm of the three-dimensional, Miller uses a sculptor’s application of oil paint to challenge the conventional strategies of his chosen medium. Miller’s paintings perpetuate the Reflectionist philosophy, engaging the viewer with dynamic contours, light play, and visibility, and revealing at every viewing angle different insight into the conglomerate layers of positive energy.

In Luminous Levitation, Miller’s paintings take on new proportions, as he showcases some of his largest creations yet, in addition to oeuvres in completely new media. Miller’s massive, nine-feet-tall oil paintings combine his three-dimensional oil painting techniques with a precise and delightful command of color. In addition, he will debut his new sculptures created with 3-D acrylic applied to thick sheets of plexiglass, which are illuminated from within. The result is startling–– floating, fully holographic images whose pedestals grant them a 360-degree visibility, to be seen from every angle. Miller’s creations continue to be unique, tactile worlds of color and shape that allow the viewer to penetrate into the depth of the universe through their artistic representations.
