I’m home from Africa and  ‘nesting’ at home…  catching up on emails, finishing my sketchbook, and being calm is the way I recover from a long trip. I’m planning a get-together to share photos, tales of the adventures, and my sketchbook with you.

Preservation is the ART of the City

Preservation is the ART of the City

Presented by Historic Fort Worth, Inc

September 8 – 24, 2016

Fort Worth Community Arts Center

Each September Historic Fort Worth, Inc. produces a month-long, multi-pronged event called Preservation is the Art of the City™ at the Fort Worth Community Arts Center, 1300 Gendy Street. In its 14th year, the primary component is an art show and sale that runs the entire month. Recognizing that great cities need studio artists who can earn a living, the artists in this show set and receive the fair market value for each of their artworks, which represents 65% of the total sales price, with the remaining 35% going to HFW as a charitable gift from the patron. Artists have the option of entering works into a special section called Stories of the City. During the month thousands of people visit the show. The following list of HFW events and programs occur within the gallery space. Each exposes new audiences to works by talented regional artists. Featured Artist: John Hartley.

Your Victory Splash! A North Dallas Visual Art Happening Oct. 16

Colored splash

Friday, October 16, 6:30-9:30 pm. The Edge 166 Artspace, 2425 W. Parker Rd., Carrollton TX 75010.

Back in the 1960s there was something called The Happening! It is remembered as a hippie thing, but it was really a revolutionary art thing. No longer did you stare at “art works” at a distance, but you actually took part in the creative process of art-production. We call this process “participatory painterly collaboration,” or PPC for short. You don’t have to be a professional artist necessarily, but you have to be committed to the collaborative moment. So come on out and invite your friends, whether they are artists or not! We can’t tell you everything about it in advance, because it’s…well…a happening. Like October thunderstorms and flash mobs. But it’s not just a lot of skylarking. We’re serious about what we’re doing, and we’re hoping to get to know you in an unconventional way. Bring a food offering if you wish. But don’t hold back your creativity. The event will be hosted and orchestrated by North Dallas artists MissiLou and Sunny.
