A Creative Art STUDIO First Friday Denton April 4

First Friday Denton April 4, 2014 small
Join us for First Friday Denton at A Creative Art STUDIO Friday, April 4, 2014 for music, art and fun.  This month our music is provided by Oui Bis, a group of local musicians that feature a variety of styles of music including the American Old Time tradition as well as Irish, Scottish and English folk dance music. Their performance will include a mix of Old Standards (that is to say jazz from the early to mid 20th century), Latin American jazz tunes of various sorts, Balkan and Slavic tunes and a handful of original tunes that might lean heavily on all of the above.  Members of the group include Steve Prouty, Leon Peek, George Merritt, Maristella Feustle, and Steve Horn.

This First Friday the gallery show features the work of artist and Denton resident, Aurora Cabrera.  Aurora combines her love for watercolor with the images and colors of her native Mexico.   Art Demonstrations and art activities will also be a part of the First Friday Festivities.  Our “Dollar a minute” portrait artist, Bailey Parrish will be on hand to sketch your portrait, Tina Alvarez and Crystal Nelson will be doing art projects and there will be a community art project for all to work on.  A Creative Art STUDIO and Gallery is located at 227 West Oak Street just off the historic square in Denton, Texas.  Grab a friend and come join the festivities in Denton, Texas. First Friday Denton at A Creative Art STUDIO

First Friday Denton July 5, 2013 large

Join us for First Friday Denton at A Creative Art STUDIO. We are located just off the historic square in Denton Texas at 227 W Oak. This month our music is provided by two up and coming female vocalists. Kicking off our music at 7 pm is Cassie Kidder, guitarist and vocalist. Following Cassie will be Julia Runge, who is new to Denton. She describes her sounds as Indie, Jazz and rock. Julia plays the guitar as well as keyboards.

Our featured artist of the month is local artist, Mick Burson. Mick grew up in Waco Texas but attends University of North Texas. You might have already seen some of his work around town because he has painted twenty murals in town which includes A Creative Art STUDIO, Ruth’s Room, Voertmans, Subway, and most recently the Denton Camera Exchange. His featured show at the studio includes paintings from his “Should Have Stayed Home.” series. Crystal Nelson, artist, will be demonstrating for her upcoming “Principles of Collage” class which will be offered in July. Once again the studio will have a community art project in which everyone is welcome to participate. People can also practice or brush up on their sidewalk chalk skills in preparation for the Arts, Antiques and Autos Chalk event in the fall.
