Trinity Arts Guild Meetings and Demonstrations for the 2017-2018 year

Trinity Arts Guild (TAG) is open to area artists and art lovers. We embrace artists working in any medium. The Guild was formed in 1961 to help both professional and amateur artists explore, develop and expand their creative talents.

TAG provides its members with gallery displays, art competitions and free demonstrations. We participate in the annual Bedford Arts Festival in Boys Ranch Park. In addition, members participate in local exhibits, art education, and networking.

We are excited you want to learn about our non-profit organization and hope you will join us.  To see more about member benefits and joining TAG, got to https://www.trinityartsguild.net/membership.

The Trinity Arts Guild Gallery/Studio located at:

2819 R. D. Hurt Parkway, Bedford, TX  76021 (inside the Boys Ranch Park)

Unique benefit: When you join Trinity Arts Guild, you get “two meetings/demos for the price of one”. Let me explain that — there are actually two meetings with demos every month September through June. The original meeting is is on the first Monday evening of the month (the original schedule) and the second meeting is on the second Wednesday morning (“TAG in the Morning”) The second was created when the Mid-Cities group merged with TAG.

Christina Yielding at Frisco Fine Art

Christina Yielding

Frisco Fine Art welcomes local modern artist Christina Yielding on Saturday, May 27, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Then, on Sunday, from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m., we will celebrate Memorial Day with live painting demonstrations by Christina. Refreshments will be served.

Christina began painting 15 years ago. Her innovative techniques for creating her mixed-media paintings include using a variety of scrapers rather than brushes. Painting solely on wood, Christina builds a custom frame around every gorgeous piece. Her work has been featured in both solo and group shows throughout  the Dallas-Fort Worth area. “The boundless and infinite nature of this work frees my imagination and silences my thoughts to allow for happy accidents infused with a measure of grace that influence the finished project.”

For more information, call the gallery at 214-872-1917 or visit www.friscofineart.com. Frisco Fine Art is located at Stonebriar Center, on the upper level next to Dillards.

Mike Mahon - Santa Fe Wonderland

The Artists Showplace Gallery is delighted to host one of the premier art events of the season. Plein Air Southwest Salon is a juried competition, exhibition and sale sponsored by the Outdoor Painters Society and showcased every April in Dallas. The annual event seeks to promote an appreciation for the process of en plen air, which is French for “in open air”. The exhibit runs from April 8 to May 13. The opening reception and presentation of awards will take place on Saturday, April 8, from 3:00 to 6:00. On Sunday, April 9, the gallery will be open from 1:00 to 5:00, with artist demonstrations from 2:00 to 4:00.

Dallas Arboretum Presents Artscape Reimagined 2017 With More than 100 Artists

DALLAS, Texas (January 24, 2017) — From April 29 to 30, the Dallas Arboretum hosts Artscape Reimagined 2017, a juried fine art and fine craft show and sale that brings together more than 100 outstanding artists from around the country in one of the most beautiful gardens in the world, according to Architectural Digest. A special members preview will be held on April 28 before it opens to the public April 29 and 30.

Artscape Chair Kaki Hopkins said, “Set amidst an explosion of spring color, Artscape will transform the Dallas Arboretum’s Pecan Grove into a unique gallery of artistic creations. The event offers our guests the opportunity to both view and acquire beautiful works of art.”

The show features a variety of mediums including painting, sculpture, 2-D and 3-D mixed media, photography, fiber, ceramics and more.  This year’s event features a significant increase in the number of artists showing and selling fine arts and crafts. New this year will be a University Zone with artwork from students and faculty. In addition, Dallas galleries will display and sell select artwork in the historic DeGolyer House.

In addition to Artscape, guests will be able to enjoy ZimSculpt, a world renowned exhibition of modern Zimbabwean stone sculptures, which will also be beautifully incorporated in the garden as the largest collection ever featured in the southern U.S. with more than 100 hand-carved pieces, which are available to view and to purchase. Two Zimbabwean artists will also demonstrate their artistry as they carve stone into modern sculptures.

On May 12 at 6 p.m. at Dallas Arboretum’s Rosine Hall, Artscape continues with an inaugural celebratory awards dinner and auction to honor a top arts contributor. Betty Crawford and Frankie Horn are co-chairing the dinner, and Heritage Auctions will host the live and online auctions.

Led by Hopkins, key committee members include David Dike of David Dike Fine Art; Brian Shivers, Dallas Arboretum past board chairman; Patricia Meadows, well known arts consultant and appraiser; Robert Bellamy of Robert Bellamy Designs; Salvador Impastato of Studio Outside; Michael Faircloth of Michael Faircloth Designs; Gail Sachson of Ask Me About Art; Judy Gibbs and Michael Jenkins, both community leaders, among others. More information can be found at http://www.dallasarboretum.org/visit/seasonal-festivals-events/artscape.

A members-only preview will take place on Friday, April 28 from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. Reservations will be required. Members will have a chance to preview and shop at a sneak peek before Artscape opens to the public on Saturday, April 29.

Among many artists of note who have juried into this year’s show include Brad Oldham (sculpture); Jim Bowman, Carlyn Ray (both glass); Elizabeth Anyaa, Valerie Guignol (both fiber); and Lynn Armstrong (ceramics).
