Painting with Alcohol Inks Workshop with Linda Wood Shotwell

Jaycee Center for the Arts, 1975 Puritan Dr., Irving

We will paint ceramic tiles and on yupo paper using alcohol inks. There will be a short 30 minute lunch break. You may bring a sack lunch or there are some fast food restaurants close by.

Price: $35.00

Supplies needed:

Alcohol Inks, blending solution and small paint brushes.

All other supplies will be furnished.

Minimum 5 students required to hold workshop.

The DeSoto Art League meets on the 2nd Saturday of each month beginning at 2:00 PM and ending at 4 PM at the DeSoto Presbyterian Church at 212 W. Pleasant Run Rd. in DeSoto. Light refreshments provided.

On January 14th, 2017 the Art League will present painting with Alcohol Inks. There are several techniques that will be presented by Julie Danford and Jean Wiley. The inks are quite vivid and are unusual in that they can be applied to non-porous surfaces. This interactive demonstration will have you try the methods on photographic paper and ceramic tile. You will also learn how to make the inks yourself so you can add this technique to your artist’s palette. Consider yourself invited—as a member, or as a guest!

Registration Guidelines & Policies

Classes and One-Day Workshops
·       Register early!
·       Payment in full due upon registration.
·       Registration is available in person or by phone. Cash, check, and all major credit cards accepted.
·       A class is subject to cancellation if student enrollment has not met the minimum requirement one week prior to the beginning of the session. Under this circumstance, refunds will be made in full.
·       Withdrawal from a class may be accepted before the second class meets. A tuition refund less an administrative fee of $40 will be made only if the withdrawal does not reduce the class size below its minimum.

Students will create gorgeous tiles with alcohol inks. Using various techniques to test play on Yupo paper, students will paint 8 tiles and finish with Triple-Coat Clear Glaze and cork bottoms. Free Painting Groups in Irving

The irving Art Association offers three free painting groups, plus sponsors a fourth at the local library. With the exception of the library group, they meet at the Jaycee Park Center for the Arts, 1975 Puritan, Irving 75061. For more about the groups see Painting Groups.

 

 

The Friday Open Art Night is held on the second and fourth Friday evenings of the month. The hours are 6:30 – 9:30pm and usually six to eight artists and crafters attend.

A group project is usually planned, but participation is voluntary — you may bring anything to work on. Come and enjoy the fellowship of other artists and learn from each other!

The Sunday Painters & Crafters Group for Adults meets every third Sunday afternoon at the West Irving Library meeting room (1:30 – 4:30 pm — corner of Rochelle & Esters).

The January 19th meeting topic with be Alcohol Inks on Yupo, but you may work on whatever you wish. Meeting leader will be Sharon Giles, so contact her at webmaster@irvingart.org or 21-288-1232 for supplies information. She will bring a supply of Yupo, the plastic paper. Yupo paper- Voertman’s  located at 1314 West Hickory is less expensive

Plastic such as a plastic ice cube tray or a plastic lid to use as a pallet. (It needs to be non-porous)

Paper towels

Various brushes (Don’t bring your best brushes)

Mask

Dixie cups or small container to hold alcohol

Pencil and eraser

A plastic lid from a storage box.  (Shoe size or larger is good.)

latex gloves to prevent staining of hands
Don’t wear good clothes!
