Artists of Eastland County

Artists of Eastland County is a non-profit organization open to anyone living, working or attending school in Eastland County. We welcome such mediums as oil, watercolor, acrylic, pastel, pen & ink, photography and sculpture. We hold our monthly business meeting on the third Thursday of each month at the Eastland Senior Citizens Center in Eastland, TX. Following the meeting we have a program of interest, such as speaker from West Texas Rehabilitation Center; a demonstration/exhibition/history of Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec and an exhibition of “Pinhole” photography. For a newly formed organization (11/06) we have been very fortunate in our speakers/demonstrators. We were very fortunate to also have a month long exhibit of the artwork of our members at the Breckenridge Fine Arts Center, as well as a display at the refurbished Connellee Hotel in Eastland.

Additionally we have “Paint Day” every Monday from 1:00 – 4:00 and Paint Night on the first, second and fourth Thursday nights – all at the Senior Citizen Center. Everyone is invited to attend, and there is no charge. There are no “teachers”, simply a group of people helping each other.

Eastland Center For the Arts, of which we are a sub-division, is in the process of revitalizing an old building on the west side of the Courthouse Square in Eastland, which will contain the Lyric Theatre Group, H.V. & Gaynell O’Brien Art Gallery and the Artists of Eastland Co. This is a long, slow process since the building has been allowed to deteriorate over several years. When completed, it will provide much needed “home” space for all and provide a complete “art” center for visitors and citizens alike.
