Exhibit Opportunity for TAC Members: All-In TAC Show

Ah, brainstorming! A co-worker had a great idea about our empty galleries this month: Any Texas Artists Coalition member may enter up to 2 works for a $20 fee. All work will be hung. No jury, no worries. We have both the Front and the Back Galleries, so plenty of room for everyone, so there are no size limitations. The All-In TAC Show will open with a reception on November 9, 6 – 9PM. You must be a current, paid-up member of the TAC to participate, but you can renew or join on the spot. Bring your work in to the Fort Worth Community Arts Center on November 1st or 2nd between 8:30AM and 7:30PM. Let’s see some new stuff; let’s see some old stuff you’ve never put out there.  Questions? Collage – a technique of art production where the artwork is made from an assemblage of different materials to make a new whole.

Printmaking – a process of creating artwork by various means of printing on paper or other surfaces.

Assemblage – a process of making artistic compositions by putting together found objects.

Artists are invited to submit up to three entries in jpg format at 300 dpi and no longer than 1000 pixels on longest side. All types of collage, printmaking, and assemblage will be considered.

People’s Choice Show call for entries

The third annual People’s Choice Art Exhibit and Sale will be held November 5th through the 11th at the Depot 100 E. Main St. Allen TX, Hosted by Like Minded Friends and the Allen Heritage Guild. Categories are painting, graphite drawings/charcoal, sculpture, photo, pottery and fabric. The show is open to artists at all levels, from student to professional.

As in the past The People’s Choice Art Show is an event where the visitors to the show are the jury. Ribbons will be awarded to the artwork that receives the most votes in each category and a cash award of $300 for the single artwork that receives the most overall votes. Winners will be announced at a grand reception beginning at 7:00 PM Saturday November 10th. Hours of the show will be open 12:00 PM till 6:00 PM Monday through Friday. Saturday 12:00 PM till 11:00 PM. Sunday 12:00 PM till 6:00 PM.

  • Art will be hung or displayed by Like Minded Friends.
  • Hanging art will be limited to more than will fit tastefully within four square feet.
  • Hanging art work must be framed or gallery wrapped with wire hangers attached (no saw hooks).

  • Each piece of art must be titled, medium stated, with price or NFS.

The FWCAC announces an open call for entries: 2012 9 x 12 Works on Paper Show December 7-29, 2012 

Artworks on or of paper may be any size, but MUST fit in a 9 x 12 envelope; folded, 3D or multi-part OK.  Unmatted, unframed photography, drawing, painting, printmaking, collage, mixed media, cast or folded paper or digital prints OK (other materials attached-OK). Kessler Pumpkin Patch and Street Fair call for artists

Call for Artists – The 2012 Kessler Pumpkin Patch and Street Fair in Oak Cliff

The tenth annual Kessler Pumpkin Patch and Street Fair benefiting The Kessler School and Kessler Park United Methodist Church will be held in Oak Cliff on Saturday, October 6th from 10 am til 4 pm on the school and church lawn at 1215 Turner Ave. in Dallas. 

It is a fun-filled day offering many fun activities, including carnival games, face painting, pony rides, bounce houses, a fall portrait station, an array of musical entertainment, a huge pumpkin patch, beautiful fall mums, delicious food from local vendors, as well as various artists and business vendors from the Oak Cliff area. This annual event draws a substantial number of people from the community and beyond. However, we are very eager and hopeful to increase our artist presence. Therefore, we are reaching out to ask more artists to join us by securing a booth, bringing your creative endeavors and increasing our artist participation. We guarantee it will be a fun day, and you should definitely see some traffic. We have had years when we have seen more that a thousand people attend this event. We are working hard to better promote the street fair portion of the event and are hopeful to draw more people who might not necessarily want to play, but who love art and love to shop. 

We have the support of local artists Larry Pile, The Kessler Craftsman and Lugina Stanley of Blue Dream Glassworks, as well as Julie McCullough and everyone at Make & Made and Indie Genius. We hope to add many more names to that list.

The booth fee is $100.00 if you commit by September 28th, and increases to $125.00 after that date.

The City of Waxahachie has a Community Art Project to exhibit artwork in their City Hall on a rotating basis.  Residents and Students in Ellis County are eligible to participate.  Please read the following information for details.  Pay special attention to the deadlines.

The City of Waxahachie will soon begin a public art program, in which local artists’ works will be considered to be on display in the rotunda area of Waxahachie City Hall.


The City of Waxahachie began a public art display program on July 1, 2012. With the program, art is displayed in the rotunda area of City Hall, for public and visitors to view. The program endeavors to provide an opportunity for local artists to show original works in a public forum.

Works displayed in City Hall will be chosen from the entries by a jury panel. The display will rotate every three months (quarterly). Each quarter, the jury panel will issue a “themed” call for art.

The City is currently accepting entries for the October – December 2012 show themed “TEXAS”.


Participating artists must:

Be 18 years of age and an Ellis County resident, OR enrolled as a student in any Ellis County School District, or attend any Ellis County private school or home school.


All entries must be original works by the artist submitting the work.

2D art work must either be framed or gallery wrapped, with a minimum thickness of 1.5″. Gallery wrapped art must be finished on all sides with no staples showing. All paintings must be securely wired and ready for hanging. No saw-toothed hangers please.

2D art must not exceed 50×50 inches, including frame, and must not weigh more than 30 lbs.

The combined dimensions (height+width+depth) of 3D art work must not exceed 70″.

2D art work may include painting (oil, acrylic, watercolor, tempera, etc.) or drawing (chalk, charcoal, pastels, pencil, crayon, pen and ink, etc.) or photography or digital art (using a camera and/or printed).

3D or sculpture art work includes work created by the artist using any medium, or mixed medium, including clay, fiber, glass, metal, paper, plaster, wood, etc.

ALL art work must be family-friendly (no nudes or suggestive work will be accepted).

No wet or unfinished art work will be accepted.

Artists may submit up to 2 works of art per quarter to be considered for display.

Work must have been completed within the last three years.



All work must be submitted via email to within the dates and guidelines on the chart below.

The following MUST be included in your email submission: a digital photo or image or the work with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi and maximum of 2000 pixels wide, a biography of the artist up to 300 words, and a 1-2 sentence description of the work, including the title of the work.



Each artist is responsible for insuring their work. The city of Waxahachie is not responsible for any loss, damage, theft, or event that may cause loss or damage to the art work.

Art must be displayed for the full three month period. If you have made arrangements to sell your work, please make sure that the delivery expectations are managed accordingly.

You will be notified via phone or email of the status of your entry once the jury panel has made its decisions.

Artisans Wanted for the Blackland Prairie Artisan & Fibre Faire benefiting The Animal Refuge Foundation (ARF)

We are seeking artisans to participate in the North Texas Blackland Prairie Artisan and Fibre Faire, a one-day event, the last Saturday in October 2012 that will take place on a working sheep farm ½ hour drive north of McKinney and 3 miles east of Van Alstyne. 

The proceeds of the Faire will go directly the Animal Refuge Foundation (ARF) in Sherman, Texas.

All items sold at the faire must be crafted by hand. Examples include knitting, crocheting, lacemaking, weaving, spinning, wood carving, felting, quilting, painting or printing on canvas or paper, jewelry, pottery, art glass, gourds, sculpture, and more.

“Art Uprising” call for artists

Announcing a new art festival at West Village called “Art Uprising” ! The Festival is a three-day event that will include a silent auction hosted by various retail sponsors at West Village, with proceeds to benefit the Emergency Artist Support League (EASL) (Friday Sept 21), and a two days of art and music throughout the West Village Neighborhood.
