Plano Public Library: Visual Artists in Residence Program deadline June 1

The Plano Public Library is looking for Visual Artists interested in sharing their skills and artistic vision with the Plano community.  There is a monthly stipend and funds for materials. A jury selects artists in residence on a yearly basis. Artists wishing to participate should review the FAQs in the application and fill out the application. The deadline to apply for the 2018-2019 residencies is below.  Click here to apply.

A little about the program:

The 18st AIRSpace is a year round program for all ages that offers hands on art workshops, and make and take activities led by community artists. Our Artists in Residence provide opportunities to learn, share, and create in their special fields. The 18st AIRSpace extends art from the downtown Plano Cultural District to Harrington Library. We are looking for artists who want to share their skills and artistic vision with the Plano community. We are open to new ideas and would love to hear about what you do! A monthly stipend is offered for the residency. We are unable to accommodate travel costs and housing for visiting artists. Our current grant funded stipend is $1000 per month, with additional resources for supply costs. Residencies can last anywhere from 1-3 months. As a part of the residency, artists will spend at least 10 hours per week in the 18st AIRSpace working on their art and engaging with the public. The 18st AIRSpace is open during all library hours for the public to learn and create. All artists will plan and conduct two workshops during each month of their residency. We encourage you to plan workshops for all ages so that families may participate together. All artists will also have a simple make and take activity.
