Celebration of the Arts 2016 (COA)

This weekend tribute to the visual and performing arts is designed to benefit the entire community, to increase tourism, and to raise funds for Arts Council’s operating budget. COA includes a Friday evening Preview Party (typical attendance is 500 people); Festival activities, 65 visual artists, Arts Experience area for children and people of all ages with hands-on activities, take away projects, demonstrations and displays and performance stages.

$3500 Prize money for 2016:

Award-winning artists will be automatically accepted into COA 2017. (coupon code AWARD)
Artist must submit an application for space reservation by deadline and are required to pay applicable booth fees.


 

The SHOW

The Artists Alliance of the Hill Country (AAHC) is spotlighting 60 juried artists at The SHOW as a two-day Fine Art Event from 10 AM to 6 PM.  Artists will display their work in a 12,000 square foot air-conditioned room with musicians performing original songs on-site throughout the two day event. Guest admission and parking to The SHOW is free. Food and drink are available on location. The Artists Alliance of the Hill Country will heavily advertise The SHOW in print, radio, and social media throughout Texas. Show venue is completely indoors (Lubbock Memorial Civic Center) with indoor plumbing (no porta potties for our artists). Lubbock is a college town with a medical and law school. Friendly people, well organized. Other great shows in Texas before and following the Lubbock Arts Festival.

 


 

2016 Santa Fe Plein Air Festival

Plein Air Painters of New Mexico (PAPNM) will host the Fourth Annual Santa Fe Plein Air Festival in the Land of Enchantment. Fifty (50) artists will be selected to participate in a seven day event from Friday, June 3 through Friday, June 10, around Santa Fe and Northern New Mexico (within a defined zone). InArt Gallery will display the participants’ best two works along with special award winners. The show will hang through July 4. Daily guided paintouts will be provided for those who want to paint in a group setting. Events will include a Kick Off Fiesta, an Enchanted Skies Award Event, Opening Reception and Awards Ceremony.

Over $17,000 in awards available. Participants will need to become PAPNM members to participate.

Frank LaLumia will be the Judge of Awards and will offer a four-day workshop, “Two Big Concepts” after the paintout – June 10-13 (separate registration fee applies).

Calling all Texas artists! Want to see your artwork featured on a bottle of wine? Enter the 2016 Messina Hof Wine Label Competition! The winning piece will be proudly displayed on a special run of Messina Hof wine bottles, plus cash prizes for the top three artists. This competition is open to all artists over the age of 21 residing in Texas. Entries may be any 2D medium including but not limited to: watercolor, oil, pastel, pencil, acrylic, collage, multimedia, and digital art.

The theme of the 2016 competition is “Renaissance”. The European Renaissance occurred between the 14th and 17th century, during which advances in art and science flourished – both of which happen to be necessities for winemaking!

The top finalist entries will be on display at the spring Wine & Roses Festival at Messina Hof, and festival attendees will have the opportunity to view and vote on their favorite piece. Top finalist artists will also be invited to the Wine & Roses VIP reception, and have the option to host a booth at the festival to display and sell their work, free of charge.

Attention artists!  Get your work prepared for entry into the 2016 Gateway to Imagination: A National Juried Art Competition.  The show will take place at the Farmington Museum from Saturday, May 7 – Saturday, July 9, 2016.  All media accepted, open to artists 18 years and older, artwork must have been completed after January 1, 2015.  This annual show attracts fine artists from across the country and will feature approximately 100 accepted works of art, including paintings, watercolors, sculptures, photographs, and mixed media.  The show will award up to $4,650 in cash prizes. The cost of entry is $45 for a total of three works of art. The entry deadline is March 12, 2016.

The PASEO is a festival dedicated to bringing the art of installation, performance and projection to the streets of Taos, New Mexico, engaging the community in the art making process. This two-day outdoor event, set in the high desert of Taos, New Mexico, is in its third year, and scheduled for Friday and Saturday evening, September 23rd and 24th, 2016.

The PASEO is seeking work that is immersive, participatory, and/or will make a dynamic impact within the Taos Historic District during this evening festival, 5pm-10pm. PASEO 2015 brought 10,000 people to the streets of Taos to experience this annual celebration of the Taos Arts Festival. Artists are also invited to present at our daytime forums, lectures and learning labs (10am – 5pm).

As part of the application process new media artists are invited to submit proposals for STEMarts LAB @ The PASEO, an innovative educational program that allows schools, youth and their families to become part of the STEM-art making process at The PASEO. The artists are asked to share their process of art making with the students who then perform/install at the event.

This is a juried and invited event with an entry fee. With this call, artists have the opportunity not only to be invited to present atPASEO 2016, but become eligible for invitation to opportunities for additional year-round events and collaborations.


Louisiana Percent for Art Program – Call to Artists – Nicholls State University Culinary Institute

The Louisiana Percent for Art Program is seeking artists or artist teams to design and implement a site-specific, large-scale sculpture of original design for the exterior of the Lanny D. Ledet Culinary Building at on the Nicholls State University campus in Thibodaux, Louisiana. The artwork will be subject to direct sunlight and must be unique, permanent, discourage vandalism, and require very minimal long-term maintenance. Finalists are required to attend 2 meetings, in person, at the site in Thibodaux, Louisiana.

The project budget (inclusive of all expenses) is $70,000. The call closes March 15, 2016. This is an open call, and all eligible artists (local, national and international) are welcome to apply. This is a call for submission of samples of previous work and qualifications only.
