PAPERCRAFT CLASSES

Card Club

Cricut Expression 103

Cricut Project Class – 3-D Haunted House

Now that you have taken Cricut 101 and 102, you have the foundation to create a special Cricut Project using a fabulous Cricut cartridge!  In this class we will take everything that you have learned and make a frightful 3-D Haunted House using the Happy Hauntings Cricut cartridge!  Prerequisite:  Cricut 101 and 102.

Scrapbooking 101

Discover the joy of scrapbooking to capture memories and create unique family and friend albums to keep and share.  In this beginner class, you will learn to start your new hobby without being over-whelmed.  Everything from choosing the right supplies to getting started to journaling tips is included.  You will receive helpful advice on designing interesting layouts and the story-telling aspects of scrapbooking.  You will complete a two-page layout.  Please bring a basic tool kit.

Paper Sculpture
 – “Rabbit on the Moon”
Tuesdays, September 11-25 & October 2; 6:30 – 9:00
$60 for four sessions, most materials provided
Work with paper mache and other materials as you create a fantastical rabbit or other pet in the “Cartoneria” style.  Pastor is teaching a different technique this month, adding plaster of Paris to his mix of materials.  Bring lots of newspaper and coat hangers for your sculpture, but most materials and tools are included.  September Project:  “Rabbit on the Moon” or your choice of a pet or other animal

Photography 101

In this class we will begin to explore the camera and all of it features and attachments. Students will learn how to operate the various button and camera settings including how to set the camera for shooting, battery and memory card replacement, lens and flash replacement, and photographic techniques for better composition. We will also discuss Image quality/resolution and printing issues.

In this class we begin the exploration into how the camera interacts with light. Since light is the only way we can expose an image, we will discuss how the camera reacts to light and how to begin setting the various light adjustments including aperture, shutter speed, and ISO. We will begin the discussion on how these three work together to create your images. We will also discuss White balance.

In this class we continue our exploration of light and begin diving deeper into the functions that support focus and exposure modes, bracketing, and more advanced features. We will round out the discussion of light and run through real-world scenarios of lighting situations that you would expect to encounter when shooting.

In this class we begin to discuss artificial lighting like flash photography and the use of strobes and hot lights. We will continue our discussions on how lighting is affected by the use of these devices and which ones work best with your camera.

Pinterest Party

Are you hooked?  Bring a project you want to work on that you found on Pinterest and/or food that you found the recipe on Pinterest and join us for some fun.  We’ll provide tables, basic tools and help if needed.  You’ll provide the rest.  And the shop is open if you need anything for your project.  The party is free, but please call to let us know that you’re coming.  Seating is limited.  Fourth Wednesday of the month.

Artists on the Go

Children ages 3 – 6 have their OWN class!  This is the perfect age to begin letting your child explore art and color.  The emphasis for this month’s class is shapes and collage.  All materials are provided.

Young Masters Classical Art Series
Mondays, September 10 – October 15; 4:00 –5:00
$110 for six sessions, materials included
Expose your child to art!  This art class will cover classical technique throughout the year.  During the first six weeks, the students will be working on a pencil still life drawing and a watercolor rendition of that drawing.  Good enough to frame!  Class is open to all school-age children (six years and older).  Material included.

Intro to Sewing for Kids
Friday, September 14 – October 5; 4:00 – 5:30

Learn the basic of your sewing machine; how to thread, wind a bobbin, official terminology, care of the machine, and also learn about fabric basics and sewing tools.  You’ll be creating your own tote bag as you learn.  You must bring your own machine to class.  Material list provided upon registration. Minimum age:  10 years old.
