The Hill Country Arts Foundation is proud to announce an open call for entries for "Sticks and Stones," an indoor / outdoor exhibition that will be on display at HCAF March 13 through April 10, 2010.

HCAF is nestled on a piece land at the confluence of Johnson Creek and the Guadalupe River in the beautiful Texas Hill Country. Historically because of its location, this land was labeled "The Point." Local residents and ranchers moving herds of livestock referred to this property as "The Point" long before the name was adopted by HCAF's well-known community theatre.

Now, the HCAF Visual Arts Department would like to celebrate man's ability to harmonize with nature. Everywhere that man sets his foot, he brings about change – he can do so gently and with respect for nature or he can ravage and destroy. With this exhibition, "Sticks and Stones" we would like to see the artists' interpretations of the softer or more thoughtful side of man. Entries can be representational of things such as a pathway through a forest, a gateway or fence line. Entries can be abstracted or nonobjective to interpret the artist's story, feeling or vision. Entries can be of any medium two or three-dimensional.

There will be outdoor installations as well as indoor artwork. Artists wishing to display indoor work may bring up to three selections to the HCAF gallery on March 8 from 11 am to 5 pm and submit their work for a $15 hanging fee – space permitting all work will be displayed. Artists interested in exhibiting an outdoor installation should call Al Zirkel at 830-367-5121 extension 225.

For more information regarding this exhibition call the HCAF Visual Arts Department at 830-367-5120 or send your inquiry to visualarts@hcaf.com.
